I don’t think it’s hyperbolic to call @StormNetWx “revolutionary” in the field of machine learning-enhanced nowcasting, mesoanalysis and mid-range forecasting. It sniffs out sneaky mesoscale setups 3-8 days out AND just nailed a historic Utah tornado. Just wild performance.
Wtf. I’ve never seen tornado probabilities this high for Utah before. StormNet is either on to something or on something 😭

Um... are we just going to ignore the fact that the above average area is shaped like a whale? Surely a telling prophecy!

The #Widemouth2Fire has been pushing north towards Fillmore, UT since last night. The fire is currently mapped at 36,438 acres, but has grown since then that mapping mission. With the predicted wind, the fire will likely continue to grow north and northeast. Strong winds are expected to remain active throughout the night. Crews remain fully engaged and are aggressively working to suppress the head of this fire. Fire managers are working continuously with the Sheriff on changing conditions and evacuation needs. On the perimeter east of Meadow, the fire continues to progress towards the ridge, but has not crested yet towards I-70. Crews are scouting around I-70 beyond that existing fire front, to make a strategic plan for future suppression activities. Due to the inaccessibility of the area, and changing wind conditions, no crews have been inserted yet on the eastern side. Crews continue to secure and hold the south and southwestern perimeter of the fire, south of Kanosh, UT. Thus far, these edges are holding with very little heat and growth. There are still some internal smokes with potential for spotting, so firefighters are working diligently to mop up well within the perimeter to avoid any slop overs or spotting. Residents are asked to stay close to their phones for evacuation changes. Any changes will be sent out on an alter to phones and homes within the perimeter of the evacuation zones. If moved into “GO”, officers will go door-to-door to evacuate residents. Please follow the Millard County Sheriff's Office Facebook page for current evacuation updates and information. Increasing winds will combine with very low relative humidity values to bring areas of critical fire weather conditions to a large portion of Utah Sunday afternoon and evening. Avoid activities that cause sparks! #utwx

This would mean ski areas opening at 9:30 or 10:00 instead of 8:30 or 9:00. Last chair would be 5:00ish. The ski industry tends to be opposed.
The US House has voted to pass a measure to enact year-round Daylight Saving Time across the country, springing Congress forward into an issue that has long stumped lawmakers and spurred impassioned pleas by parents, farmers and others with sharply divergent views. It will now head to the Senate for approval before going to the president for his signature — though its chances in the upper chamber remain unclear. cnn.it/4pom6fY

The Cottonwood Fire outside Beaver, Utah is now 10,000+ acres. Evacuation orders for Eagle Point, Merchant Valley, HiLo Estates, Arrowhead Summer Homes and all surrounding areas. Beaver County Sheriff’s Department is actively working with Emergency Managers and Fire Personnel to ensure safe evacuations. 10,000 acres in just hours. This reminds me of what 2012 was like early on in the Basin. If so, buckle up. We had 1,500 OT hours just in desert fires.
