Nikole Hannah-Jones made a conscious decision to send her child into a failing school system in pre-K. Even with the resources and time to be involved, she never checked her daughter's schoolwork until 4th grade, when teachers happened to bring it to her attention. Then, later in the same piece, she spends an entire paragraph explaining why parents' poor choices bear no culpability.

I recall reading about TJ re: Hemmings in Gore Vidal's historical fiction "BURR" I twas a kid. I subsequently learned about James Callender's contemporary reportage. Once read something claiming TJ's brother. I have no horse in it. Hon. Prof. @agordonreed needs no vindication.

It’s nice to have my work vindicated by another DNA test. What’s also great is the vindication of Madison Hemings who spoke of TJ and SH & Fawn Brodie, who put his recollections in her TJ bio that I read at 14 and got me started on this journey.
