Hey y'all! I recently picked up steady part time work, and our tea shop is up and running, and aside from that, I've been picking up some part time gigs as a book cover designer and a composer, so after nearly a year of unemployment and sporadic freelancer work, we're starting to get our feet beneath us, and we thank you for all your prayers support. Despite this though, we have also gone through many hard times this year, both emotionally and financially with familial losses, surgeries, and more. So, any prayers or financial support you'd be able to give would be extremely appreciated. Please be keeping us in your prayers as this month and the next will be very tight, and this year has been emotionally taxing. Thank you and God bless all y'all! givesendgo.com/thechinaharri…

Today, I am 64. I would love to impart wisdom, but the older I get, the more I realise that I have none, so let me give you Hope instead: You are going to survive the Affair. You are going to survive the Abandonment. You are going to survive the manipulation, the betrayal, the poverty, the struggle, the addiction, the incurable illness, the undeniable truth, the sin you can't bear and the sorrow you can't heal; You are going to survive the loneliness, the pain, the laughter, the tears, the brittleness, the rebirth and the final Battle - Life is your Song and you are the Singer. Raise your voice, and lift your heart, for your Song is not yet sung. I survived, with Christ by my side, and you will too. Live Life on Legendary... and Never Surrender.🔥

Here's a great Texas story. You know how I'm always saying "Don't Mess with Texas Women?" Some of this advice comes from my own hard-won personal experience, but a lot comes from stories like this one, which may be the best example yet. Back in 1968, they opened the Julian Bivens Museum way up in Tascoa, Texas. The museum is actually in what used to be the Oldham County courthouse, and is the tall two-story building shown in the background of this early 1902 photo of Old Tascosa. Anyway, when the museum had its grand opening, they invited Mrs. Neal Johnson to cut the ribbon, handing her a pair of dainty scissors. There was a bullwhip nearby (one of the museum exhibits). Mrs. Johnson put down the scissors, grabbed that bullwhip and CRACK!!! severed that ribbon just as neat as a pin. The folks gathered for the opening were stunned, then broke into applause. I can't blame 'em, because I would have, too. I wish I knew more about this story, like Mrs. Johnson's first name, but this is how she is identified in every newspaper account I could find. Nevertheless, this is reason #3,492,103 why it's never a good idea to mess with a Texas woman. For all you know, she's got a bullwhip close by. 😃 Regarding this photo: as mentioned, it was taken in 1902. It was built in 1884. The white building in the foreground is the school which, as you can see, has a couple of outhouses in the back. The Oldham County seat moved from Tascosa to Vega, Texas in 1915. I really think the bigger question is, does anyone under 70 see political ads at all? I don't watch TV, because I haven't even OWNED one for 15 years; I get all my information, news and entertainment from books and digital. I only see ads when I look them up, due to memery.

A man who assaults one of our citizens with a sword deserves arrest; a man who kills one of our deputies deserves to die... and we didn't waste 800 rounds doing it, either. I am sorry for the loss of our Deputy, and for the loss of 800 rounds of ammo. youtube.com/watch?v=z6dpZEDq…

Please pray for our Friends and neighbors in Van Zandt Co, Texas. This is a terrible loss for all in the First Responder community - and please, keep Deputy Sherifi and his family, and especially his newborn Baby in your prayers💔
#UPDATE: The suspect who killed Van Zandt County Deputy Adam Sherifi fired MORE THAN 800 ROUNDS at responding officers during Tuesday night's deadly shootout in Texas. According to Sheriff Kevin Bridger, Deputy Sherifi was helping Canton police serve a warrant on a suspect wanted for two serious felonies: aggravated assault and aggravated assault of a peace officer. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Mi Van Nguyen, opened fire with a semiautomatic rifle from inside his home. Deputy Sherifi was killed, and Canton Police Officer Chris Watson was wounded and remains hospitalized. Nguyen was later found dead inside the home from a gunshot wound. Authorities have not disclosed a motive. The sheriff also commended Deputy Brandon Fontenot for his lifesaving actions that night. Fontenot returned fire and risked his life to help reach Deputy Sherifi and Officer Watson while they were wounded. Deputy Sherifi leaves behind a wife and a newborn baby. His family, friends, and fellow officers gathered to honor his life and service. RIP, Deputy Adam Sherifi.

I remember 1968: Hubert Humphrey running for office and the kids were singing on the playground swing: "Humphrey Humphrey he's our man Nixon goes in the Garbage Can!" Then the Nixon kids would sing it opposite: "Nixon, Nixon he's our man, Humphrey goes in the Garbage can'"... and everybody laughed and no one hated each other and we were still friends. It was also one of those cool murder playgrounds with metal slides that would hear to broiler temps in the sun and merrygorounds that would drag you to your doom... MATCH ME

'The Principal and the Pauper' was a thinly veiled statement to the fans of the Simpsons - The Simpsons was being replaced by an imitator, another show under the same name. The episode stands as the greatest inside joke ever made.

I got the official diagnosis today, I have kidney cancer. I'm lucky (?) in that while looking into my back issue, they spotted it early. I'm going to lose the kidney, but assuming my chest CT comes back clean, that should be the end of it. Just monitoring for the next couple years to make sure. 🧵

My friend @BeerPedaler is a river guide who leads groups of adventurous folks down the Rio Grande and also on the Devil's River, which is where he is this morning. He just sent to me this photo of Dolan Falls. The Devil's River is known as the clearest river in Texas and is blessedly undeveloped. Thank you, Tony. I envy you at the moment!
