After Isaias made landfall Friday night, it marked the 8th hurricane to make landfall on the Gulf coast of Florida in 10 years. 6 of those hurricanes were at major hurricane strength when hitting Florida.

Easily one of the craziest days I've experienced as a meteorologist. Tornado warning after tornado warning... 126 confirmed tornado warnings across Florida!
Today on the afternoon of October 9th, 2024 we witnessed the largest single day tornadic outbreak in Florida's recorded history. 126 Tornado Warnings issued by NWS offices (55 by NWS Miami). 15 Confirmed Tornado Reports in NWS Miami Area of Responsibility. 1 particular long-track, violent EF-3 produced considerable structural damage as it moved across several communities in Palm Beach county and came within a few miles from my house in Lake Worth. The product of a cyclonic right-front quadrant that contained the perfect combination of ingredients for rapid tornadogenesis and also hammers down the fact impacts can and will occur outside of the forecast cone which only tracks the center. #FLwx

#Isaias continues to strengthen. Observations from scientists onboard an Air Force Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate the central pressure continues to fall and maximum winds are now near 85 mph. A period of rapid intensification is possible before vertical wind shear increases significantly before landfall.

Pretty neat! Almost all of the US is seeing sunshine today except Florida (for the most part). ☀️

The Nor’easter will weaken tonight, easing beach conditions and coastal flooding, though locally heavy rain will continue in parts of the Mid-Atlantic and New England into Monday.

JUST IN: Zero hurricanes have formed in the Atlantic by September 21 for the first time since 1914.

If no hurricanes form in the Atlantic Basin by tomorrow morning, it'd be the first time in 112 YEARS that we've had no hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean through September 21st.
so cool!!!
EXTREMELY RARE PIEBALD SHARK SIGHTED OFF ANNA MARIA ISLAND!
Piebaldism is caused by a genetic condition affecting melanin distribution, resulting in striking patchy, unpigmented white areas alongside normal pigmentation. Reaching adulthood with this condition is exceptionally rare because the lack of natural countershading makes young sharks easy targets for predators.

She is big.
Just, not organized…
..Dealing with a lot right now.

Gulf water temperatures are plenty warm enough to support intensification, but for now, dry air and some shear are preventing TD #2 from rapidly intensifying.
We do think the depression will become Tropical Storm Bertha soon. The big question is, how long will the storm stay over water to allow for further development and intensification? For now, we think the storm should be near or over land by Wednesday, but we will be watching closely. Tropical Storm Watches are up for portions of the Florida Panhandle to the Alabama, Mississippi line. Minimal, if any impacts for our area, in fact, as the storm moves away we will see lower rain chances and higher temperatures. #Florida #Skytower
