Google's June spam update finally caught up with one of our competitors who thought it would be ok to rank on other people's brand names 😂 Spamming Google isn't a sustainable business model #SEO

Most of our competitors are getting slammed on keywords. Weak SEO over the years focusing on simple informational terms that are now all answered by AI? Almost everyone we're looking at in the football tips/predictions area has lost 50-75% of their SEO in the last year

You can't ignore the old SEO metrics because of GEO. Those old metrics still matter, but there are also new ones you have to track. Look at the difference between 2024 and 2026.

Google update in full swing! Plenty of volatility being seen right now. These affiliates will be praying this is just a blip and rankings will bounce back 😬

First signs showing that Google appears to be improving how it matches content to what users actually want -not just keywords but the intent behind the query. Shallow affiliate content could therefore be at risk

More people click on paid ads than they do on AI overviews 🙃
This is what happens after people perform a search on Google. You may be freaking out that the majority of clicks don’t go to websites, but keep in mind, Google gets over 5 trillion searches a year. That 35.5% of clicks adds up fast… thats roughly 1.8 trillion clicks a year.

The Google spam update hasn't treated one of our competitors very fondly! As you can see, rankings down to zero then only bounced back to 50% of what they were pre-spam update Lesson learned - don't tempt Google by breaking their spam policies!

Things that may fall foul of the spam update are here developers.google.com/search… Cloaking, hacked content, expired domain abuse, keyword stuffing, misleading functionality, thing affiliation, and more Hopefully those sites copying our brand name won't come out well from this!

Brazil is proving a much tougher market than anticipated. "Q2 2024 Better Collective recorded 500,000 NDCs of which 200,000 came from Brazil. In contrast, Q2 2025 saw 300,000 NDCs join the company overall of which 50,000 were from Brazil"

Parasite SEO is rife in the affiliate side of the industry too. Many brands hijack our own trademarks. Affiliates will use any tactics to make short term money igbaffiliate.com/en/articles…

A lot of reports of very positive swings in SERPs from the latest Google update. If you haven't seen positive results (yet), then it could be a bad sign. We've pulled away another 14% on our competitors in Brazil seroundtable.com/google-june…

#negativeseo seems to be at the highest it's ever been in the affiliate industry, as backed up by comments at the recent @SBCGAMINGNEWS Summit in Malta. The impact of AI on affiliate traffic is perhaps causing a few ships to sink out there. Desperate times, desperate measures!

Google prioritises content that demonstrates Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (E-E-A-T). Copying competitor content doesn't inherently establish these qualities Sites like this brandjacking WinDrawWin could be doing themselves a lot of harm 😁

Especially when the brand owner keeps telling AI models that other content is not original 😁
