I spoke with Haley Stevens yesterday. Feeling a bit absurd in pointing out the obvious and being far kinder than I should have been, I reminded her that the outcome of this senate race will be viewed in the light of a future Supreme Court vacancy, and I expressed a hope that all of us understand the stakes. She assured me she's supporting Dr. El-Sayed, sent me a video of a recent speech she gave blasting Mike Rogers and said this: "Still stands. I promise." She also said she's been sending this video to other folks to make it clear where she stands on this race. Again: that was yesterday. I have known Haley Stevens for years. I have counted her as a friend and an ally. We've had many thoughtful conversations about this country, and she has never failed to remind me that her mother is a fan of my writing. Whatever other political differences we have, she has always made it clear to me she would stand with LGBTQ people. It was a red line she refused to cross. Instead, she has made the inexplicable decision to endorse a man who views LGBTQ Americans as second-class citizens unworthy of full equality. I can't help but wonder what her mother must be thinking right now. I have no idea what has happened to the person I thought I knew, but clearly, she has completely taken leave of her senses in endorsing a Republican who is little more than a Trump sycophant -- less than 24 hours after promising me that she has not wavered from the bigger picture. I am disgusted with her cynicism and cowardice in this moment. God forgive me for trusting her. If you're a Michigan voter and as disgusted as I am, get to your polling place and vote for Dr. El-Sayed.

Here in North Austin, where ICE agents appear to have shot an individual in his car. I spoke to two of the only witnesses. 🧵

The shooting happened near W Anderson Lane and US 183. People are lining up along the caution tape around the scene, visibly upset. @cbsaustin
The horror has come to our city: ICE has shot a person in Austin this morning. As the facts emerge, I am demanding a full, independent investigation, immediate release of the body camera footage, and accountability for any ICE officer who broke the law. Over and over, ICE has shot people and then lied about what happened. We can see the lies with our own eyes. We will demand truth, transparency and accountability.

It has now been 52 days since Mitch McConnell has been seen by anyone outside of his wife, supposedly. He has missed over 40 Senate votes. Taxation without representation is happening to every Kentuckian right now. Is he dead?

Unearthed records just revealed that Ken Paxton owns 15 homes on a government salary. This includes luxury real estate in Hawaii, Utah, and Florida.

This is actually crazy. In just the last 4 months, Ken Paxton has purchased home(s) for his mistress, given a plea deal to a pedophile, and gone on at least one multi-stop international vacation with said mistress. DURING A CAMPAIGN. He either: A) Doesn’t actually want to win. B) Is arrogant enough to believe that he will win despite these blatantly scummy things. C) Knows something we don’t about questionable election security shenanigans ahead this November. Because WTF.
NEW: Ken Paxton bought three condos in a luxury resort in Utah earlier this year. On the deeds, he listed a home in Frisco as his address. Police reports we obtained refer to the home's owner as a woman, who is not his wife, that Mr. Paxton has been recently photographed with.

Replying to @ESPNFC
Look, I’ll give France the win, they did win. But I don’t care what anyone says, mbappe was shitty all day, got very lucky on a Hail Mary, and then made one very very good goal in stoppage time. He was not good, he had one good moment and flopped a handful of chances. Even his late goal shouldn’t have happened. Look at the ref cam leading up to it. Clearly his teammate is being hard fouled, right in front of his eyes. The ref was an absolute disaster today. The last goal by Senegal was absolutely a goal, the ref was awful

No shit, dude. Any comment on the explosion in Dallas? Or is Dallas too blue (and brown) for you to care?
Only US citizens can vote in Texas. We are double checking records to protect the integrity of our elections.

Two highly publicized recent affairs in two years -one for many years w/ woman he pressured a donor to hire, then one that prompted his wife to file for divorce. Not Swalwell or a Democrat. But Ken Paxton, who might get elected US Senator from Texas - with Trump's endorsement.

The debate over James Talarico calling God "nonbinary" is silly because it shouldn't be a debate. It is scripturally true. God is everything. God is everyone. God is every gender. Case closed. But we get into this ridiculous convo because conservatives find it Very Important to describe God as masculine. More importantly, they demand God be described as a man. Several years ago, I did a segment on MSNBC and referred to God with "she/her" pronouns. I wasn't being political with that. I really wasn't. That's just how I refer to God, and it is scripturally sound even if conservatives swear it isn't. So, this rightwing reporter reaches out to me on LinkedIn because he watched the segment, and he was quite upset with me for using she/her pronouns in reference to God. I asked him: "What is your scientific argument that God is male? Do we know anything about his anatomy?" He responds: "No, of course not. It's because God is referred to as 'he' and 'him' all throughout Scripture." And I said: "So, let me get this straight: you have no scientific evidence that God is male, no descriptions of God's anatomy that would support that claim, but because God identifies as male and uses he/him pronouns, you respect and honor that. What does that sound like to you?" And he started typing and then he stopped typing and then he blocked me. These folks are loons and we should call them loons and we should challenge them on Scripture and we shouldn't back down from that conversation. So, yeah, I think James Talarico is spot-on and I give thanks to God, in all Her wisdom, that She inspires him to speak the truth.

This exchange just happened on the Senate floor. Cornyn: “I don’t understand how the SAVE Act disenfranchises voters.” Durbin: “Happy to explain. Driver’s licenses don’t qualify under the bill. 50% of Americans don’t have passports.” Cornyn: “Why not just amend it?” Durbin: “When’s the last time the Senate actually amended a bill?” Silence. The SAVE Act requires passport-level documentation to register to vote. 50% of Americans don’t have a passport. The people least likely to have passports: the elderly, the poor, rural Americans, young first-time voters. The people most likely to have passports: wealthy Americans. This is not voter protection. This is voter selection. And when a senator suggested fixing it — his own colleague couldn’t name the last time the Senate amended anything. That’s the Senate in 2026.
