hey i actually kind of hate neurotypical people. yall are the ones that cant do anything right. cant use terms correctly, cant communicate ur feelings, u adhere to bullshit made up societal rules that make everybody including yourself miserable and u resent ND ppl for clocking it
And this isn’t to say that any of the actors play the characters badly. They play them well. But I’d really like to see them play them doing things that were written in the book.
That’s the core of gothic horror. It’s psychological deep dives. Frankenstein. Dracula. It’s examining the core issues of what makes us human. It’s what made so many people uncomfortable with Eggers’ Nosferatu. Because it wasn’t the usual romantic slop. It was Oh. Horrors.
While I don’t mind relationship drama, what drew me to the books and what their core is and what spoke to me as an emo goth kid was that quest for meaning. That’s what made them so compelling and sad and relatable. They were all miserable but surviving, asking WHY and HOW.
