Today, SCOTUS heard OA in Skrmetti, a blockbuster EPC case concerning TN's ban on certain forms of gender affirming care. We are hesitant to guess how this case will be decided, but we know that upholding TN’s ban would have a devastating impact on the transgender community.
Notably, several justices, including C.J. Roberts, suggested that generalist judges are not well suited to assessing the scientific and medical evidence cited in these bans - a real 180 on their Loper Bright argument, if you ask us.
If you would like to read more about this important case, check out this article by CAP’s own Haley Norris: americanprogress.org/article…
Another day, another opportunity to confirm all pending judicial nominees #ConfirmJudgesNow
Could you imagine waiting over a year to find out whether or not you got a job? That’s how long some judicial nominees have been awaiting confirmation. Let’s get them over the finish line! #ConfirmJudgesNow
There are many fantastic, fair-minded judicial nominees pending before the Senate and we want to see them confirmed! Americans deserve fully staffed courts! #ConfirmJudgesNow
In just four years, Trump appointed 1/3 of sitting Supreme Court justices and created a court in his own image. 18-year term limits can stop that from happening again.
In the past month, the Supreme Court has heard cases on everything from ghost guns to the death penalty – all while being subject to no enforceable code of conduct. Why should the court with the most power have the least accountability?
Seriously questioning my friendships because no one in the group chat has offered to 1) fund luxury vacations, 2) purchase my childhood home, or 3) pay a family member’s private school tuition? Idk – that seems like basic, entirely normal friendship stuff? #SCOTUS
Interested in learning more about court reform? Check out our proposal to combine term limits with an enforceable code of conduct (two VERY popular proposals): americanprogress.org/article…

This extreme, anti-voter decision comes from the same far-right justices who have continually overturned years of legal precedent and sold out the American people to fit their own agenda.

Today, SCOTUS allowed Virginia to move forward with its last-minute purge of more than 1,600 people from voter rolls.
In response, Ben @Olinsky, senior vice president for Structural Reform and Governance at CAP, issued the following statement:

You know what’s the most surprising thing about the Supreme Court’s enforceable code of conduct? The fact that it doesn’t exist. #EthicsReformNow
