where is @default_friend when you need her? because why is the right wing so fandom-brained suddenly?
you had best pray that the constitution is not terribly amenable because once your enemies accept the proposition, they wouldn't need to try too hard to strip you lot of any semblance of political power. you're an unfashionable political minority, as am I.
The article by "Ibn-e-Khaldun Bharati" is a case study in how Indian liberalism disciplines those who refuse its catechisms. It piles up adjectives—Islamist, anti-secular, reductionist, conservative to target muslim intellectuals instead of properly refuting their arguments. The central charge is that Sharjeel Imam calls the Constitution fascist, labels secularism a trap, and denounces democracy. Constitution is not infallible . And what is the liberal soft sanghis response -how dare he? The Constitution is sacred. It is the ark of the covenant. To criticize it is to be anti-national, anti-democratic, anti-everything. Constituion is a document—a historically specific juridical text produced by a Constituent Assembly dominated by lawyers, landlords, and the professional middle classes, at a moment when the Indian bourgeoisie was consolidating its rule after independence. Constitution treats a landless labourer and a billionaire equally. And this is precisely one of the problem. The Constitution treats them equally in the sense that it confers on both the same formal rights the right to property, the right to contract, the right to equal protection of the laws. But a landless labourer and a billionaire do not enter the juridical sphere on equal footing. The Constitution's formal equality is the alibi for this outcome. allows the state to say: "We are not discriminating; we are simply applying the law equally to all." But the law itself is structured to protect the interests of the propertied classes, because it emerged from a settlement in which those classes were dominant. The liberal who worships the Constitution is, whether he knows it or not, worshipping the form of equality that conceals the reality of exploitation. He is worshipping the juridical abstraction that allows the state to claim neutrality while presiding over a society of radical inequality..
Also the charge that Imam "labels secularism a trap". Why is this even scandalous in the first place check the historical record? The word "secular" was inserted into the Constitution in 1976, during the Emergency, by a government that had suspended civil liberties and jailed its opponents. Since then, it has functioned as a label that allows the state to claim neutrality while presiding over communal violence. The Congress presided over anti-Muslim pogroms in Gujarat, Bhagalpur, and elsewhere; the BJP has perfected the machinery of pogrom. Each time, the state's "secular" credentials are deployed to insulate it from accountability. Sharjeel Imam challenged the political invisibility of Indian Muslims. We all know how these parties treat muslims as vote bank. He raised uncomfortable questions about constitution , so called secularism . If he doesn't fit into your narrative of " good muslim " where he needs to worship constitution doesn't mean his opinion can be discarded . Have some shame @ShekharGupta
aristotle's natural slaves whipping themselves into a frenzy over an obviously fake letter and a grifter trying to score a free grill.
When we talk about cultural compatibility it’s not some hypothetical issue. What we can and cannot do in public, or even in private, is informed by our cultural upbringings. If you’re raised in a culture that views killing and eating cows as a sin, an evil, then having smoke from its cooking waft into your house is not only annoying and unpleasant, but deeply offensive. That culture is incompatible with one that enjoys grilling. There isn’t really a compromise here. One side will get what they want and the other won’t. It is a win-lose situation.
The more you import different culture, the more of this conflict you create.
dawg why are you people this retarded? why can't you just be the slightest bit normal?
when people read this slop, they don't think "le epic based historian", they think "if the intellectuals of the left are this retarded..."
I was excited to work on nlp before it became gpt3 fun facts.
