What a brilliant piece of telly. Not sure I’ve ever said that. Gambling is a cynical, dirty business, it makes its owners incredibly rich while exploiting people and ruining lives. It dominates football now. At Forest Green Rovers we refuse to take gambling sponsorship - and promote the work of ‘Gambling with Lives’ instead. Gambling is hyper normalised by the exposure football clubs and TV channels give it - it’s a toxic combo. We should end it, just as tobacco sponsorship was ended, decades ago.

Patrick Stewart supported Amnesty’s human rights work for a long time and will be deeply missed. Beyond his fierce commitment to stopping violence against women, he also supported human rights scholarships for projects around the world and was on AIUSA’s Executive Directors’ Leadership Council many years back.

Sir Patrick Stewart was best known for playing heroes on screen, but one of his bravest acts was telling the truth about his own childhood and speaking up for human rights.
For many years, he stood with Amnesty and spoke openly about the violence his mother suffered at home to support our campaign to stop violence against women. His honesty gave courage to survivors around the world.
Our thoughts are with his wife, family and friends. The best way to honour him is to carry on the fight he believed in. It should appal us all that the scourge of violence against women and girls continues, and Governments must do far more to end it.

Jenrick, now Reform UK treasury spokesman, is listed as ‘possibly’ referring an export packing firm. Graham Brady, then chair of the 1922 committee of backbench Tory MPs, referred an interior design company near his Altrincham and Sale West seat. Brady told Democracy for Sale that he had “no recollection of this but given the location, I assume I was passing on an approach from a constituent.
