📽️ From Donald Trump to Britain's wind power trade body, there's a growing coalition calling for more drilling in the North Sea. Raising the question: if we DID encourage more exploration, how much oil & gas could we actually get? Our MEGA primer on the North Sea👇 Ps it's longer than usual, but it turns out this topic has SO MANY misconceptions. Time to put some of them right. Let me know what you think

Dear Prime Minister & Energy Secretary, We hope this finds you warm. Not metaphorically warm — actually warm. As in, central heating on without having to remortgage the house. Because out here in the wilds of Ordinary Britain™, we’ve developed a new hobby: staring at the thermostat like it’s a slot machine. Will it go up? Will it bankrupt us? Who knows. Spin again. Now, forgive us simple folk, but we’re slightly confused. We’re sat on North Sea oil and gas. It’s there. Under the sea. Not imaginary. Not theoretical. Not powered by positive thinking and recycled conference lanyards. And yet the national strategy appears to be: 1.Don’t drill it. 2.Import it. 3.Pay more for it. 4.Look surprised when bills explode. It’s a bold plan. Very avant-garde. Almost performance art. Meanwhile, every time fuel prices twitch, petrol stations react like someone’s shouted “fire” in a theatre. Prices up faster than a minister’s expenses claim. Oddly, they never drop with the same Olympic enthusiasm. Must be gravity working differently in Britain. We’re told another wind farm will fix it. Another turbine. Another “long-term strategy.” Now don’t get us wrong — wind is lovely. Very breezy. Excellent for drying washing. But when it’s minus three and the grid’s wobbling like a jelly at a church raffle, we’d quite like something a bit more… reliable. Energy policy shouldn’t feel like we’re betting the house on a weather app. Here’s the uncomfortable bit: ordinary people are cutting back. Pensioners choosing between heating and eating. Families watching fuel costs creep up while wages politely stay seated. And from Westminster we get speeches. Targets. Pledges. Strongly worded enthusiasm. We don’t need enthusiasm. We need affordable energy. Preferably sourced from the resources we already have. It’s not radical. It’s not extremist. It’s not anti-planet to acknowledge that until storage technology catches up and renewables can carry the load alone, turning off domestic supply while importing foreign supply at a premium is… financially acrobatic. The North Sea isn’t a moral failing. It’s an asset. Using it sensibly while transitioning responsibly isn’t betrayal. It’s common sense. Ordinary taxpayers aren’t asking for miracles. We’re just asking not to be collateral damage in a PowerPoint presentation. So here’s a humble suggestion: Warm homes first. Affordable fuel first. Energy security first. Then — by all means — save the world. Yours in mild hypothermia and rising direct debits, The People Who Actually Pay The Bills

In response to events occurring over the past 48 hours, there are some things we would like to address. On December 11th, 30,000,000 tokens were transferred to a partner to provide liquidity in case of unexpected volume surges and potential additional trading venues. These tokens were moved into exchanges on March 3rd without consent. This is a matter we are actively and thoroughly investigating. Nothing has changed when it comes to the development of Fableborne and Power Protocol. We remain committed to the vision and execution on both sides that we have been building for years. Fableborne Season 5 is still on schedule and we are still building exciting new initiatives with Power Protocol that are on track. The same vision and team many in our community have supported for years, remain unchanged. Our goal has always been to grow alongside our community. From burning the un-minted supply of Fableborne Primordials NFTs in 2023, to providing close to $1m in USDC to our holders at TGE, along with many other examples, we have always carried a reputation of doing what is right by our community and doing it the right way. To purposefully ruin that reputation, while still building Fableborne and Power Protocol, would be contradictory of not only our past behaviour, but of our vision for the future of Fableborne and Power Protocol as well. We will continue to gather information and provide updates as our review progresses as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience and support.

What is WOOF? The cross section of AI x Culture x Gaming Here's everything you need to know: 1️⃣ WoofXBT We are building the aixbt of gaming that is powered by WolvesDAO’s 3 year proprietary dataset and GamesLab’s deep analytics platform. • 2000+ mints, TGEs, playtests tracked • 500k+ Wolves discord messages discussing crypto gaming • 3 million wallets tracked (for now) • 300+ APIs integrated • 7 blockchains at launch Woofxbt will be posting on X with the aims to deliver deep, actionable data for gamers, investors, and builders. Slop is for pigs, not for Wolves. 2️⃣ Proprietary Data The Wolves have built a network that isn’t publicly accessible. We have built relationships with builders, investors, and key decision-makers in crypto gaming. We’re partnering with these connections to acquire and integrate data that isn’t publicly available. This data will be fed into the Woof’s AI model and will evolve alongside the Woof Companion app (keep reading) to better serve you. 3️⃣ Gaming Culture Wolves have always championed the people, the builders, the creators, and the voices shaping the industry we love. Now we’re using our platform to amplify the creators and degens who are making crypto gaming fun again. We will continue to host live events around the world, like WolvesDEN 2025 at GDC, to support the creators and culture. Our mission is for Woof to be the home for those who believe in what crypto gaming can be, online and offline. 4️⃣ Woof Companion We’re extremely excited to finally tell you about this. The Woof companion is designed for the individual user. Starting as a telegram mini app we will give you bespoke news and alerts based on your gaming wallet holdings. By monitoring your wallet, this telegram mini app tracks gaming asset holdings and delivers personalized notifications and updates such as news, mint dates, playtests, and more. In future iterations of the mini app we will be giving access to a Woof Terminal. Giving you a powerful tool to deliver actionable and up to date data in the crypto gaming space. The Woof companion is for you, we plan to build and iterate with the community to have a healthy feedback loop that builds something you want to use every day. Woof Woof.

People really don't talk about this enough but @MariaFuzzyland was literally a product director for Runescape specializing in marketplace and economy. We have a joke in web3 that anyone who knows what they're doing in the space grew up playing Runescape/Vanilla WOW. Maria was literally building Runescape. Fableborne.

Yesterday we announced that Woof will be launching on @avax. For the last three years Wolves have been obsessed with crypto gaming. We read 100s of whitepapers, wrote gaming reports, and minted millions of dollars worth of crypto gaming assets. And in all that time of monitoring the space, Avax continued to champion games. Regardless if it was a bull or bear. They have supported the industry by supporting creators on and off the camera. Buying booths at GDC and other major conferences that put web3 gaming on display. They support amazing games: @playoffthegrid @MaplestoryU @PlayProvidence @ShatterlineFPS @playSHRAPNEL @spellborne And have always shown up. The Wolves couldn’t be happier partnering with AVAX. I want to personally thank the team at @AvaLabs @avax @AvalancheFDN for all the support thus far. To the Avax community, I’m a long time gamer on Avax, first time builder. And if I learned anything from the Navy, its respect is earned not given. I’ve been speaking to long term AVAX community members and the @AvaLabs crew on how best to take care of people who have called @avax their home. To the community leads… I’m willing to meet, call, or shoot a video to explain what we are doing with Woof. And to the Wolves, thank you for the last three years. But we are just getting started! Woof woof.

Great news! After years of litigation, millions of your taxpayer dollars spent, and irreparable harm done to the country, we reached an agreement with SEC staff to dismiss their litigation against Coinbase. Once approved by the Commission (which we're told to expect next week) this would be a full dismissal, with $0 in fines paid and zero changes to our business. This is hugely vindicating, especially because many people questioned my decision to engage in litigation with the SEC on this matter in 2023. People told me the courts would give a lot of leeway to the government. They said public market investors wouldn't like it. They said it would take years and cost us tens of millions of dollars in legal fees (which it did). They said the agency would use mafia tactics like trying to pressure other companies not to work with us while the lawsuit was underway (which they did). But I knew a few truths that helped make it an easy decision to fight them in court: 1. The SEC was wrong on the law. They were exceeding the authority given to them by congress by asking us to delist a number of assets that were not securities. We had taken a conservative approach to ensure we weren't listing any securities, and the SEC itself had allowed us to go public in 2021 after reviewing our listing standards in depth. We tried to “come in and register” but it turned out it was a fake offer, as every crypto company discovered. Regulators are supposed to enforce the law, but they can't make up new laws on the spot if they don't like the current ones, or weaponize a lack of clarity in the law. 2. Caving to their demands could have killed the crypto industry in America. The SEC made it clear to us that the only way to avoid litigation was to delist the many assets they falsely claimed were securities. It was a bullying tactic, pure and simple, driven by Gensler's own political agenda. And if we had caved, it would have dramatically limited the scope of which crypto assets were allowed in the US, and pushed the industry further offshore, into the shadows. Never forget how close a few activists in government came to unlawfully killing an entire industry in America! It could have easily gone the other way. Thank goodness the founding fathers created the judicial branch, as a check and balance on executive power. 3. It was the right thing to do for our customers and the industry. At the end of the day, it didn't matter what our chance of success was. I had to stand up for our customers’ and our industry’s rights. I also knew it would serve as a deterrent for future bad actors around the world we may have to engage with, for them to know that we won't be bullied or pressured. We are comfortable engaging in litigation across multiple fronts, indefinitely, while continuing to build. This is business as usual. As Bain in The Dark Knight says, "you merely adopted the dark; I was born in it". Growing up I had a naive view that regulators exist to hold companies accountable. What I realized in this ordeal is sometimes, companies must hold regulators accountable who are painting outside the bounds of the law, to preserve freedom. Accountability can actually happen both ways. At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom, and I initially thought we could achieve this solely through our crypto products. But I'm increasingly realizing that we can move the needle on economic freedom in the courts and through our policy efforts as well, when we see bad actors in government around the world. We plan to do more of this. I have to give credit here to the Trump administration, for winning the election, and for the departure of the activist head of the SEC, Gary Gensler, who orchestrated this unlawful action along with Elizabeth Warren, and a handful of their lackeys in congress. I feel confident we would have won this case in the courts either way, given our facts were so strong, but it certainly helped accelerate the process and drive accountability. I called out the sketchy behavior of the SEC back in 2021, and I believe this comment turned out to be prescient. I want to give a shout out to all the other crypto companies who fought back with their own lawsuits (we certainly were not the only ones). I want to give a shout out to all the crypto startups who couldn't afford the legal fees, and went bankrupt due to the administration's abusive tactics. Your company may have died, but crypto lives on. Don't stop building. I want to give a shout out to both Democrat and Republican members of congress, who are working hard to ensure America leads on crypto. I know that Gary Gensler and Elizabeth Warren do not represent the entire Democratic party. And I want to give a shout out to all the crypto holders in the US who elected pro-crypto candidates, on both sides of the aisle, to make sure your rights were preserved. It turns out the crypto voter is real, and showed up in the millions. Finally, I expect we'll continue working productively with the SEC on any number of items over the years, just as we do with every agency around the world where we operate. I look forward to the SEC being reformed under Paul Atkins, Mark Uyeda, Hester Peirce, and DOGE, and new more sensible personnel coming into leadership roles. I commend the new leadership that is already in place for working to right this wrong - it's a great step in the right direction, and took courage. Now let's get some crypto legislation passed in the US to finally clarify the rules, and really kick off this next phase of building.
