Members of Minnesota’s Somali community largely ran the Feeding Our Future sites that prosecutors say fraudulently claimed ~$250 million in reimbursements.
Documented ties include: campaign donations (~$5,400–$7,400) from Safari Restaurant associates Ahmed Ghedi and Abdihakim Ahmed (later convicted; funds redirected to charity); 2018 victory party and promotional video at Safari (top fraud site, owner Salim Said convicted); emails with Feeding Our Future founder Aimee Bock on waivers; and former staffer Guhaad Hashi Said’s conviction for a related fake site. Omar has denied knowledge of any fraud.
