ALT Over 1,400 members of the UE Locals 506 and 618 at Wabtec's locomotive plant in Lawrence Park are striking for green jobs and the right to strike over grievances. The union wants to build green locomotives and move the industry toward less-polluting rail engines. Their fight deserves our full support, not least for its implications on our future.

ALT Our feelings of helplessness stem from our lack of control. We feel helpless because right now most of us have no power over our workplace or the wider economy. Who has the power? The wealthiest corporations in the world. Just 100 companies are responsible for 71% of carbon emissions since 1988. They have the power, and they're using it to generate profit through climate change - through the way we produce energy, food, and transportation.

ALT This is why the UE strike matters. Because the workers who are striking for green jobs are showing us a way out. They're showing us that we can combat climate change by creating good jobs and by taking control of production. Above all, they're showing us that workers can - and must - lead the way to a better future.

ALT Dear GEO, We are UndocuGrads at UMich, a newly formed student organization composed of undocumented/DACAmented graduate students and allies. We want to voice our support towards the strike and all the proposals delineated by the GEO, but particularly, the "Immigration Protection Proposal," which highlights the importance of protecting our University's immigrant community. This proposal resonates with our group since detainment by ICE or other governmental agencies is a real and constant fear that we experience. If the proposal were to pass, we would all feel more confident in believing that the University is committed to our safety. We applaud the student union for not conceding to this demand that affects us very personally and we hope that this proposal can be seriously considered by the University. In solidarity, UndocuGrads at UMich
