Replying to @ForWomenScot
I would love someone to explain why silently and unwillingly removing your clothes in front of men who demand it, is an act of “compassion”. How is it not humiliation and degradation? How is “be kind” and “compassion” in this example not coercion?

In evidence, Jayne Ozanne who appears to believe that her own internal battles with her faith could have been sorted with legislation, was clear that she wants prayer criminalised, including any help sought by the individual in question. She records a counsellor telling her that she would just have to change her religion if she felt her sexuality was incompatible. But she didn't want that. Ozanne once told the Guardian that “gentle, non-coercive prayer” should be outlawed. She also wants to ban ‘praying alone’ - who the criminal is in this circumstance is not explained! Ozanne has admitted she was not open about her sexuality and did not discuss it with her pastoral support group. Later she asked for supportive prayers from "kind and loving" people to ask that she find someone to settle down with and have a family. She claims that at this point she was confused about her sexuality and had boyfriends. So what does she really want? Ozanne claims to remain an Evangelical Christian so she clearly wasn't kicked out. She wasn't held in a cult or subject to abuse, she simply asked others in a religion she claims she wishes to belong to, to pray for her to achieve happiness. Freedom of religion is an important human right. The state has a duty to ensure that harm, terror, or abuse is not carried out in the name of faith, but it has no business interfering in anyone's inner life. The Church of England is right to be concerned.
The Church of England has warned that Labour’s proposed trans law risks criminalising prayer and pastoral support. Get this front page story here ⬇️ telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/11…

The government is tendering for an organisation to run its Conversion Practice Victim Support Service. £180,000 for two years. It has spent £471,232 on this helpline over the past 5 years and released no data about how many times the phone rang. If anyone can download the tender documents I would appreciate it. find-tender.service.gov.uk/N…

So glad @Telegraph are coming at this bill from every angle. I hadn’t considered the impact on detransitioners - that simply sharing their experiences will be criminalised. She’s been attacked endlessly- now it’ll be criminal charges. @JournalistJill excellent stuff. ‘I regretted my gender change. This is why @BluskyeAllison ‘s case at the Supreme Court is so important. It seems almost nobody, least of all the government, has learnt their lesson about Stonewall and the other trans rights activist groups. Their advice remains legally incoherent, ill informed (and vengeful) and can land those taking it in serious trouble. If this bill passes and then we enter years of legal battles on human rights grounds. The losers will be taxpayers, those charged and those who have to keep fighting this endless campaign. Stonewall are a poisonous influence and have been since 2015. Stonewall helped Labour draw up ‘chilling’ trans law telegraph.co.uk/gift/23d4a2e…
