I’ve said this before and I will say it again: If eating meat *could* affect the environment to the degree that the earth would be in danger of burning up, I would use the flames as the planet dies a fiery death to sear a ribeye medium-rare in one last stubbornly rebellious meal.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes. I had a quiet day writing, HBTP made me lamb chops for dinner, and I then had my Sunday spa time movie night (The Cutting Edge, 1992). Oh, and my congestion seems to be a teeeeeny bit better today. Onward to 43!

Okay, here’s the explanation: The timer app in the pulldown menu in the right hand corner (photo 1) is the new wheel timer at the top. You have to go to the Clock app (photo 2) to find the alarms, stopwatch and the timer in its earlier iteration.
Just used the timer on my iPhone after this most recent software update and I gotta say @apple, this new timer interface is SHIT. Are you actively trying to make people Android users? Fix this.

In today’s edition of “tales of checkout baggers” we have the lady who proceeded to put half my grocery order in plastic bags before placing them into the reusable bag that I had brought, thereby reducing the point of the reusable bag.

I used to think Excel was just a big table with handy formulas. After watching some advanced Excel tutorials, I’m convinced it’s actually a coding interface with gridlines.

Sometimes you can have bigger plans and dreams for people than they do for themselves and if they don’t want to work with you, you just have to let them stay mediocre.

And to clarify a few points: - businesses use AI artslop because it is easy and cheap, in small orgs without trained designers this is a real consideration - AI artslop is also soulless just with more curliques
My theory is that people keep using these AI textures/graphics because they are tired of the soulless, sterile, minimalist designs, logos, and architecture humans have given us. These AI textures at least *look* designed.

I appreciate the stereotype that men get home from work and just want a few minutes in silence to chill. I like to get home from work and word vomit all the juicy details and rants from my day.

I just finished a book where the female main character was an academic, and several times during the book, she was sure to rant about how academia allowed white male professors to glide through without doing anything, while women, white and black, had to struggle to get respect.

...They're also three of the most amazing teachers, artists, and friends I'll ever have the honor to work with, and they're making academia a better place for others." This is the problem: she has to make all the right noises about straight white men being THE PROBLEM (TM)...

Even though personal evidence shows her that they're not. How she lives with this cognitive dissonance I don't know. But with friends like her, who needs enemies. I just... I had to read that to my husband because it's like, "ma'am, DO YOU EVEN HEAR YOURSELF?" AWFL person.
