Most people are using AI the wrong way.
And it's quietly slowing down their writing, creativity, and output.
Here's how to use it correctly to 10x your workflow without losing your voice:
I write somewhere between 100–120 posts a week.
It’s a lot.
Naturally, I’ve been using AI to speed up parts of the process.
But not in a “write everything for me” kind of way.
More like a co-pilot who helps me think faster, better & organize my thoughts clearly.
Here are the 5 ways it’s been a game-changer:
1. Breaking down tough ideas
So I read the High Agency essay the other day.
Brilliant piece, but I wasn’t in the right headspace to fully get it on the first go.
Instead of forcing it, I just tossed the essay into AI and said:
“Hey, explain this like I’m 11.”
And gave me a highly simplified version of that.
Got a solid grasp of it in minutes, and when I revisited the original with those notes, it actually clicked.
Not saying the essay was confusing.
My brain was just tired.
Next time you hit a wall with something complex, try this.
Seriously helps.
2. Coming up with hook ideas
Usually, I’d write three hooks, maybe pick the best one and run with it.
Now?
I pick the best one and tell AI:
“Cool. Give me 10 spinoffs. One funny, one weird, one controversial, one tied to current stuff…”
It gives me options — and even breaks down why they work.
Honestly?
Feels like I’ve got a copywriter in my pocket.
3. Using client transcripts to pull out gold
I still listen to client calls (usually twice, to honor the flow).
But now I also drop the transcript into AI and ask it to highlight the key nuggets:
• Phrases
• Quotes
• Angles
• Hot takes..
and the likes.
It nails their voice and saves me a ton of mental energy.
4. Turning rough ideas into something structured
Some days I’ve got a messy idea in my head and no clue where to start.
So I go:
“Here’s the idea. Ask me a few questions. What might people disagree with? What would a reader get stuck on?”
Boom — it gives me a rough outline.
And all I have to do is just color inside the lines.
Still writing it myself, just with way less friction.
5. Turning rambly thoughts into usable content
When I don’t feel like writing, but I’ve got something to say, I’ll literally just record my voice — full-on ramble mode.
Then I give the transcript to AI and say:
“Clean this up a bit, but don’t make it sound robotic.”
Still needs a bit more polish, but it works.
Keeps my voice, just tightens up the structure and gets rid of the ums and half-sentences.
It’s honestly my favorite low-energy hack.
These days, I’m running all of this inside @kortexco
The latest update is literally insane.
Everything lives in one place:
• No flipping between tabs
• No weird Notion hacks
• No clutter
Huge shoutout to @thedankoe and @joeyjusticeco for building something that actually gets how creators work.
Respect.
