He's not only the opposite of Spielberg, but even the opposite of Kubrick when it comes to entertainment value. His films are bizarre, and he borrowed the idea from Brecht of using stylistic devices to create a sense of distance between the audience and the show. Love that.

Alien doesn't fall for passing fashion trends. The costumes, set design, and artwork are timeless. One of many reasons why the film still works today.

I've never seen it, so I can't really comment. Are you familiar with Fassbinder's early work? I'm a fan, but since his films are very personal, I know they're not for everyone.

Donald's not interested in politics. That's for journalists. He's interested in deals. Snagging something here, sealing a deal there.

He didn't just make Wanda's life a living hell—he did the same to his family, too. What an actor.

There was a time when great film ideas died for lack of money or equipment. Today, affordable or even free technology has removed those barriers. Anyone can make a film. The tools are there. Now it’s time for ideas that make the most of them.
