Did you know miners can mine two cryptocurrencies at the same time using the same mining work? It's called merged mining. Merged mining allows miners to support two compatible blockchain networks without needing to do twice the amount of computational work. For example, Litecoin and Dogecoin use merged mining. Since both use the Scrypt algorithm, miners can use the same mining work to help secure both networks. This matters because Miners have the opportunity to earn rewards from both networks, while the additional mining power can help strengthen the security of the auxiliary network. However, both networks must support merged mining for this to work. #ViaBTCacademy

Recording data or an event is as important as someone else being able to verify what was recorded. This is where @Minima_Global's approach to verifiable evidence becomes interesting. 🔸Consider how the process works: 1. An event occurs: A device, application or machine generates data or changes state. 2. Evidence is registered: A Minima product captures relevant evidence and context within or alongside that environment. 3. A verifiable record is created: The information can be used as a basis for subsequent verification. 4. The record is checked: An authorised participant or connected system can verify what was registered without relying solely on the original source. This approach brings evidence closer to the activity that generates it, creating a foundation for verification across connected systems. With Minima, the focus is on making recorded data verifiable. ➡️ Explore: minima.global #Minima $Minima

Behind the computational work miners perform is a mechanism called Proof of Work (PoW). But how exactly are the two connected? PoW requires miners to use computational power to repeatedly calculate hashes until they find one that meets the network's difficulty target. When a miner finds a valid hash, they can propose a block for verification. If accepted, the block becomes part of the network's transaction history and the miner can earn rewards. 🔸Why does this matter? PoW makes producing blocks computationally costly, helping secure the network against manipulation. In simple terms, PoW is the mechanism, and mining is the work miners perform to participate in it. We will explore more about Mining in subsequent posts. Watch out for it. ➡️ Mine with @ViaBTC #ViaBTCacademy

A blockchain project becomes a lot more interesting when you start looking at what developers can actually build with its technology. That's one thing I'm exploring with @Minima_Global. Take mininotes.org, for example. It's a private note-sharing app that uses Maxima, Minima's communication layer, to share notes directly between devices with end-to-end encryption. But the app itself is only part of the story. Minima gives developers a foundation to explore new kinds of applications, from private data sharing to device-to-device communication. The exciting part is seeing how these building blocks can be turned into practical products that solve everyday problems. You don't have to stop at what's already been built. You can build on Minima, experiment with ideas, and contribute to what the ecosystem becomes. Share your ideas here: minima.global/contact #Minima

Some blockchain design decisions only reveal their value years later. During @Minima_Global's developer call, the team discussed a growing concern in cryptography. How prepared are existing blockchains for a future where today's signature schemes may no longer be secure? ➡️ youtu.be/M9Dj61EH7SU?is=C6UM…

One challenge is that quantum-resistant cryptography isn't simply a plug-and-play upgrade. Larger signatures can mean bigger transactions, more data to process, and potential performance trade-offs. That's why the choices made at the protocol level matter. $MINIMA

Minima's use of Mimblewimble and its approach to hash-based signatures came up as an example of why thinking about security early can make a difference. Building for the future means considering not just what works today, but what might threaten it tomorrow. #Minima

When does a miner break even? Break-even is the point at which revenue covers the costs included in the calculation. For miners, those costs may include: - Electricity - Hardware expenses - Repairs and maintenance - Other operating expenses But here's an important distinction, covering electricity costs doesn't necessarily mean a miner has recovered the money spent buying the hardware. A proper assessment should account for both ongoing expenses and equipment costs. Mining revenue can also fluctuate with Bitcoin's price, network difficulty and the miner's share of the network's hashrate. Understanding the full cost of mining helps determine whether an operation is recovering its investment or still running at a loss. #ViaBTCacademy #mining

Let's explain mining difficulty. When you're mining, you're competing with other miners to find valid blocks. But the network has rules designed to keep block production on schedule. As mining power changes, difficulty can adjust to compensate. So, even when more miners join the network, blocks aren't necessarily produced faster in the long run. ➡️ Hashrate and difficulty work together, and understanding both gives you a clearer picture of how mining works. If you're exploring the mining world, keep learning the fundamentals. Platforms like @ViaBTC make it easier to explore mining pools and understand how miners participate in the process. #ViaBTCacademy

Would you prefer more predictable mining payouts or rewards tied more closely to your pool's success? That's one of the key differences between PPS+ and PPLNS. 🔽 Here's how they work: - PPS+ You receive payouts based on the valid shares you submit, with a base payment calculated under the pool's PPS rules. The additional component accounts for transaction fees. - PPLNS Your payout depends on your eligible share contribution within the pool's defined window when a block is found. . . . 🔽 What does this mean in practice? ✅ PPS+ generally offers greater payout predictability. ✅ PPLNS payouts can vary depending on the pool's block-finding results and your contribution. @ViaBTC supports both PPS+ and PPLNS for supported mining services, giving miners options to consider based on their preferences. There's no one-size-fits-all answer. Learn how the system works before deciding which approach suits you. #ViaBTCacademy

Why do crypto miners join mining pools instead of mining alone? Think of it like working on a group project. Everyone contributes, the group works toward a shared goal and the results are distributed among participants. That's the basic idea behind a mining pool. 🔸Miners combine their hashrate. 🔸The pool works to find valid blocks. 🔸Rewards are shared according to the pool's payout rules. Solo mining offers the possibility of earning the full block reward, but finding a block independently can be extremely difficult. Pool mining, on the other hand, generally provides smaller, more frequent payouts. Mining pools like @ViaBTC give miners a way to participate in pooled mining, with payout methods such as PPS+ and PPLNS to suit different preferences. Remember, more frequent payouts don't guarantee higher profits. Understanding your options is the first step to smarter mining. #ViaBTCacademy #BitcoinMining #MiningPool
