Yesterday, I had the honor of joining the people of Lango to celebrate the 2nd Coronation Anniversary of His Highness Won Nyaci Me Lango.
The vibrant celebration was a powerful testament to the enduring strength of our cultural heritage, identity, and shared values. Our traditions remain the very bedrock of our unity, social cohesion, and collective responsibility.
As we honor our heritage, let us continue to embrace our diversity, reinforce the bonds that bind us, and safeguard our cultural institutions as strong pillars for generations to come.A united Lango is a stronger Lango.

Last week, our Senior Advocacy Officer, @mkukunda presented a powerful plea on behalf of civil society, demanding urgent government action and increased #funding to combat the rising burden of #Hepatitis B and C across #Uganda. @MinofHealthUG @mofpedU
Civil society representatives highlighted a critical funding disparity in the national health response. While major diseases like HIV command robust budgetary support, Hepatitis B and C remain chronically underfunded. This is despite the fact that nearly 1.8 million Ugandans live with chronic Hepatitis B, and liver cancer accounts for over 5% of all cancer deaths in the country.

Schools, kindergartens, universities and any other places of learning must never be bombed, surrounded by landmines or used as shelters for combatants. They must never be attacked.
Protecting access to education helps preserve the possibility of building a future beyond armed conflict.

Pray be4 Bed👇🏼
Heavenly Father, as I lay down to rest tonight, my heart rises in gratitude for the gift of this day. Thank You for the mercies that met me in the morning, the grace that sustained me through the hours, and the unseen battles You fought on my behalf. Thank You for the doors You opened, the ones You kept closed, and the lessons hidden in every experience. Lord, Your Word declares in Psalm 4:8, “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for You alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” Tonight, I surrender every unfinished assignment, every unanswered question, every concern and every burden into Your capable hands. Forgive me where I fell short, purify my thoughts, and renew my strength. Let my sleep be free from anxiety, my dreams be covered by Your peace, and my home remain under the shadow of Your wings. May the night restore what the day has depleted. Let tomorrow find me wiser in spirit, stronger in faith, and more conscious of Your presence. I refuse to carry into tomorrow what Your grace has already enabled me to surrender tonight. I rest in the assurance that the God who kept me today has already gone ahead of me into tomorrow. IJN. Amen.🙏

You learn a lot about someone's character by watching how they treat strangers in a queue.
The rules of war exist to protect people caught in armed conflicts, not the powerful.
Respecting them is an obligation for all parties to armed conflicts, wherever they take place. Without exceptions.

UGANET in the Field | Yumbe: Strengthening a Multisectoral Approach to SRHR
In Yumbe District, the Protect SRHR team conducted an orientation for Community-Led Facilitators (CLFs) and Community-Based Volunteers (CBVs) to strengthen their understanding of the project and promote coordinated implementation at the community level.
The orientation covered the project's background, short-term outcomes and long-term outcomes, helping participants understand the broader goals and the role each sector plays in achieving them.
As part of the one-team approach, representatives from different sectors presented their respective areas of focus and explored how their work connects with that of other sectors.
Participants were encouraged to move away from working in isolation and instead strengthen coordination and collaboration to ensure the project's multisectoral approach translates into meaningful action within communities.
Effective SRHR programming requires different actors to work towards shared goals, combining their expertise and efforts to improve access to services and support for communities.

UGANET in the Field | Obongi District: Bringing Justice Closer to Communities
For many people living in Obongi District, accessing formal justice has meant travelling long distances, spending money they can hardly afford and enduring delays in having their cases heard. The absence of an operational court in the district has made an already difficult process even more challenging.
To address these barriers, UGANET conducted a four-day mobile court session at Bongilo Community Centre, Zone 3 East, in Palorinya Refugee Settlement, bringing judicial services closer to refugee and host communities.
The session provided an opportunity for litigants to have pending cases heard and resolved within their communities, reducing the geographical and financial burden of seeking justice while supporting the timely disposal of cases.
Beyond the resolution of individual cases, the intervention reinforced the importance of accessible justice in protecting rights, strengthening public confidence in formal justice institutions and promoting accountability.
It also provided a formal avenue for resolving disputes, including family-related matters involving refugees and members of host communities, contributing to reconciliation, peaceful coexistence and stronger community relations.
As communities approach the festive season, accessible and timely justice remains essential in preventing conflict, deterring criminal conduct and ensuring that everyone, regardless of where they live or their financial circumstances, can seek redress when their rights are violated.
Justice should not be out of reach simply because of where someone lives.

UGANET in the Field | Kyegegwa District: Exploring the Link Between Gender, Climate Change and Agriculture
Over the last week, UGANET conducted four two-day Social Norms Change training sessions with farmer group members in Kigambo Sub-county, Kyegegwa District.
The sessions explored the connections between gender, climate change, agriculture and natural resource management, helping participants understand how social norms and power dynamics influence household decisions, access to resources and community development.
Using visual learning tools from the SASA! Together and Gender Action Learning System (GALS) methodologies, participants examined both positive and negative social norms, explored how power is exercised within households and communities, and reflected on how gender relations shape their everyday experiences.
The discussions provided an opportunity for farmer group members to reflect on existing practices and consider how more equitable relationships and decision-making can contribute to stronger communities, sustainable agricultural practices and better management of natural resources.
Changing social norms begins with understanding them and creating space for communities to question practices that hold them back.

The HIV Response Isn't Over. Neither Is the Fight!
UGANET's Advocacy Officer joined fellow civil society organisations, AHF Uganda Cares, the Ministry of Health and the Uganda AIDS Commission this afternoon for a live press conference ahead of the 2026 World AIDS Day celebrations.
The engagement highlighted preparations for the World AIDS Day outdoor concert scheduled for 27 November 2026, under the theme: “HIV Isn't Over: Get Tested, Stay Safe, Stay on Treatment.”
The message is clear: we cannot afford to lose momentum. Every HIV test matters. Every person accessing treatment matters. Every effort to prevent new infections and challenge stigma matters.
UGANET continues to champion health justice, protect human rights and support sustained action to strengthen Uganda's HIV response.
The fight continues. Let's keep the conversation going!

Sometimes you see young people commenting in support of violent groups and acts like abduction and torture, and you wonder whether they really understand what they’re doing to themselves. Tomorrow they might want to apply for some international big opportunities. These days, before making a decision, many institutions first conduct thorough background checks, including social media footprints, on applicants. Even if you delete afterwards, often somehow traces remain. I’m particularly looking at young people who have a long future ahead of them, but destroying their resumes in pursuit of momentary gains. The world quietly watches and keeps receipts.
