Today was my last day at @ListerSchool & the hundreds of pupils I’ve formed unwavering bonds with have sent me off in an unforgettable way. 3 schl years later, I feel forever indebted to Lister for being the place where I finally believed I can have a future as a teacher with MS

This kind of ignorance is so rampant in the UK. Having a wheelchair doesn’t always mean a disabled person can’t stand or walk, it means they can only do so for variable distances, which would explain why this person also had a walking aid with them. Disabled ppl are allowed fun…

Her PIP is for her disability not her employment status & PIP isn’t even means tested, so there is actually no link whatsoever which makes this bizarre. She also distinguishes between meaningfulness & inaccessibility which is a key detail in disability that you’re conflating
Cut her benefits- she’ll soon find it meaningful. We have absolutely spoilt society. What a spoilt entitled brat!

Maybe let’s instead focus on what about so many workplaces is harming so many people, how inadequate the provision for reasonable adjustments across workplaces often is, the wider attitudes to mental health disorders across society, rather than attack a woman who values her life.

The safeguarding of disabled ppl across all areas of society including the workplace is overwhelmingly poor. I’ve said for years, the DWP itself lost more disability discrimination tribunals than any other employer over a 5-year period. That is a scandal in itself.

Personally I think it’s TfL that have a duty of care & all buses should have a clearly painted floor for wheelchair users, the onus should not be on a disabled person to have to advocate for themselves esp as the risk of harm to them is higher, but instead signage is inconsistent
I say this as a parent, if you are on the bus with your pram and a wheelchair user comes on, you need to make space or get off. And as bystanders we should feel confident enough to tell people this to avoid wheelchair users having to deal with ts on their own.

The May halfterm always reminds me of the best teacher I ever had. He died 5 years ago, just a term into retirement. I remember standing in front of my students teaching a lesson that day, & later standing at his funeral facing the ultimate lesson in life. medium.com/@mightychondrion/…

A year ago my mum started chemo so yesterday after her check up I took her to the Pret where I used to buy her breakfast, but she couldn’t eat due to nausea. Just want to thank @Pret for giving it to us on the house when I told them my mum is now with me & in cancer remission.❤️
Today is the best day ever because it’s my mum’s last day at hospital. In January, she became unwell very suddenly. Soon after, she lost the ability to walk and was on daily morphine, she was eventually diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer. Today she WALKS out CANCER FREE ❤️

My students would be so proud they were the first to tell me I’m an alien ❤️
So I’ve never talked about it, but my party trick is that if given any date over the past decade at least, I can easily recall which day of the week it was & what I did in detail. No mathematical calculation, just automatic memory recall. Apparently called hyperthymesia.

I fully support this. I used to have a seat and table at the end of my desk in mainstream that any pupil was allowed to choose to sit in away from the class when they needed time alone. Anytime a kid sat there I knew they needed extra care and attention & I would provide it.
“What am I not providing right now as a teacher that they need?" Natasha Chalk says teachers need to take a minute to talk to a child in lessons to understand why they are behaving in a particular way. What do you think teachers?👇 #Behaviour #Teaching #TeacherLife #SEND #teachertok #teachersoftiktok

Could be something as trivial as they fell out with someone at break time & didn’t want the class to see them crying or upset. But I used to always say to them if it’s important to them then it’s important to me. I would get their book for them & get them gently started on Do Now

On my first day with any class I always used to say to them there’s nothing wrong with emotions, but there is a problem if there’s truancy/disrupts a lesson - even if you’re angry or upset just show up to class have a quiet word with me & I guarantee I won’t make anything worse.

Does anyone remember iced ring doughnuts from Greggs - they were the best. I used to get them after Eid prayer as a tradition that started in childhood with my siblings. What happened to them @GreggsOfficial and can I have them back please 🫢

My friend Sam, who I met by chance on Green Street a few years ago does my henna for Eid every year & if anyone wants their henna done by her over the next week drop me a DM. It’s available in both black and red, she’s based in Bow & is the nicest girl you’ll ever meet xxx

My little sister is 10 today. Born on International Women’s Day and not the leap year day I feared a decade ago. Time flies. ❤️
Can you all pray that my sibling isn't born on February 29th 😭 not having my sibling used as everyone's example for "I know a kid born on.."
