Yellowhead Skateboards retweeted
Starting at the Pacific Ocean in northern British Columbia, running through the forest, over the valleys and rivers. Traversing the Rocky Mountains, pushing through the foothills and then through the plains. Connecting western Canada.
Pierre Bostonais, (Tête Jaune) or in english “YellowHead” was a Métis fur trader given the nickname from having blonde hair. He was one of the first to use this pass through the Rockies that would later be named after him, then the highway name to follow.
I grew up in a small town in, located in the heart of Yellowhead County in Alberta. I too am of a proud Métis heritage, but with my European traits (blonde hair, blue eyes, fair skin), along with my name, you would never be able to tell lol.
All of these things came together the other day, and I thought of the perfect name. Sure right now it’s just a vision, an idea, or a dream. But we keep building. Pushing forward. Much like Pierre did across that pass.
MapleSkateCo was def a cool name, and its was convenient to keep Maple in a title of something of mine, but with all the other “maple” variations in skateboarding it felt crowded. But I do think this first logo attempt does pay tribute enough to that.
Can’t wait to be able to press some decks, along with a few other things. To share with everyone and give back to skating.
Stay Rad 🍁🛹🤙🏻
