Congrats @vqctran. So excited for you and see what you achieve next. We had a lot of fun working together over the years and we co-invented so much together. I will miss you. 🫡 Always remember you joking about quitting AI to do some bio stuff. I'm glad you're finally pursuing your passion. All the best!
After 10 incredible years at Google, I've left @GoogleDeepMind to join @thematthewosman and @FabioZB_I at Polyphron as a co-founder and explore the next frontier in my research passions. Together, we're training frontier models that autonomously explore, understand, and physically reproduce human tissue biology. It's our grand vision to grow tissues realistic enough to match human response to all drugs, and realistic enough to recover organ function when transplanted into living organisms. Other than the bitter lesson, I think another lesson remains true in the history of ML: the more directly you can optimize your end goal, the better your outcome will be. IMO this is one lesson largely missed in the drug discovery and computational biology space today, and one that Matt and Fabio understood very clearly (and why I joined them on this journey!). At the heart of our company is one giant RL problem: propose a recipe to grow tissue, sample life itself, reward directly against the functionality of the tissue. If this sounds exciting to you as either an AI or Life scientist, feel free to reach out! We're building the coolest lab in NYC :) I'll never forget all of the {pretraining, RL, self-improvement} projects I worked on with my brilliant friends at GDM over the years, but I'm even more excited to share the things we discover next! (p.s. this isn’t the first time i RL’d something based off of similarity, iykyk)

Gather town! 😀 Sure brings back memories. When I was a PhD student I had to travel something like 10+ times in 2018-2019 on cheap economy flights (sometimes more than 36 hours) to far away places. Traveled so much I hated traveling for awhile so I was happy for the remote conference for a bit during covid. Now I do miss this experience 😆
Can't believe this batch of PhD students gets to go to Seoul, Vienna, Singapore, Kyoto, San Diego, Hawaii while the previous batch visited Gather Town, and the one before that apparently just went to New Orleans multiple times

A few months ago, @qx_dong turned me from a pure IC into a manager. 🤗 Was a really fun experience so far watching people join one by one, building the team culture together and going up on the frontline. 🫠 Unprecedented moment in the history of Singapore to have so many talented researchers in one place. I'm glad to be building this legendary team. 🫡
Overdue update: I’ve joined @GoogleDeepMind as a research scientist to work on 💎Gemini post-training. Feeling incredibly fortunate to be cooking models with such a brilliant team, under the leadership of Yi Tay (@YiTayML) and Quoc Le (@quocleix). In the past a few month, we've found so much enjoyment in working with our own models and keeping pushing their boundaries. Ps, there's a special joy in creating recipes and internally naming them after our favorite drinks🧋 Looking forward to keep enjoying research, pushing the frontiers of Gemini and seeing the magic unfold on the path to AGI!

Badminton battle with Zichen @zzlccc this morning. 😆 We have an AGI badminton club in GDM Singapore. 🫡 Night time RL-ing Gemini, morning time training ourselves. 🔥 Ngl, finding a sport to enjoy and keep healthy has been one of the best choices of my life. 😀

It was amazing hosting @edchi and @lmthang. The most important thing I learned from this trip is that Ed's favourite pokemon is Lapras 🫡👍
Hanging out with @lmthang and @YiTayML for multiple days in Vietnam and Google Singapore. And great event with @newturing on AI and humanity. Thank you for hosting!!

My second time as a speaker at gstar summit in Vietnam. This time I am honoured to be chilling (I mean sitting) on a panel with colleagues @lmthang and @edchi 😀. I really enjoyed the vibes and company and meeting new people. 🫡 Events by @lmthang and @newturing have always not only been super impressive in terms of speaker calibre density but also sota in organization and hospitality. 😆 These two days have been a much needed retreat for me and it's been really timely! 😀 Also enjoyed hanging out with @edchi, I wanted to try to get a photo with @lmthang but it was impossible to catch this Vietnamese national hero for a selfie. 😀

1/ Today at #GoogleIO, we’re releasing Gemini 3.5, our latest family of models combining frontier intelligence with action. We’re starting by releasing 3.5 Flash, which is built to help you execute complex, long-horizon agentic workflows. Gemini 3.5 Flash is our strongest model for coding and agent yet.It outscores 3.1 Pro on agentic and coding benchmarks like Terminal-Bench and MCP Atlas, while running 4x faster than other frontier models. Used in Google Antigravity, 3.5 Flash is even further optimized to be up to 12x faster. It’s a powerful engine to deploy sub-agents that collaborate, run high-frequency iterative loops, and solve real-world problems at scale. Some highlights we’re excited about 🔽

Congrats and welcome @NiJinjie to the center of AGI (🇸🇬 branch). Taking highly technical and capable researchers like this and giving them a chance to be at the frontier to make tons of impact for Gemini has been one of the most rewarding things of founding & building GDM in SG.
Life update: I’ve joined @GoogleDeepMind as a research scientist to work on ✨gemini scaling and RL, under the leadership of Yi Tay (@YiTayML) and Quoc Le (@quocleix). I feel extremely fortunate to be on the critical path towards AGI and can't wait to help push the frontier of gemini capabilities! 🚀

More Aletheia and Deep Think greatness! 😎
Thrilled to share: #Aletheia, our math research agent, just solved 6/10 notoriously hard FirstProof problems autonomously, the best result in the inaugural challenge! To me, this is even bigger than our historic IMO-gold achievement last year; these problems challenge even top mathematicians. We share our results transparently, see paper and full thoughts in the thread. 👇

Exciting results in AI math research! We use Aletheia agent, powered by Gemini 3 Deep Think, to tackle the FirstProof challenge. Operating completely autonomously, Aletheia successfully solved 6 out of the 10 problems. Check out the full paper for details on the methodology and expert evaluations. arxiv.org/abs/2602.21201

Gemini 3.1 pro is here 😁 Just one week after the Gemini 3 Deep Think launch, the core model/intelligence powering it all is shipped!
Gemini 3.1 Pro is here. Hitting 77.1% on ARC-AGI-2, it’s a step forward in core reasoning (more than 2x 3 Pro). With a more capable baseline, it’s great for super complex tasks like visualizing difficult concepts, synthesizing data into a single view, or bringing creative projects to life. We’re shipping 3.1 Pro across our consumer and developer products to bring this underlying leap in intelligence to your everyday applications right away. Rolling out now to: - Developers in preview via the Gemini API in @GoogleAIStudio - Enterprises in Vertex AI and Gemini Enterprise - Everyone through the @Geminiapp and @NotebookLM
