.@iitmadras through its Centre for Research on Startups and in collaboration with its incubated startup YNOS Venture Engine (@ynosin) have developed the ONE INNOVATION dashboard to showcase the startup and innovation ecosystem at the Higher Education Institutes in India.
A presentation of the ONE INNOVATION dashboard was made today (Oct 31, 21025) by Prof. Thillai Rajan, the Head of the Centre for Research on Startups to the Secretary, Higher Education Dr Vineet Joshi (@Vineet_K26) and senior officials of the Ministry of Education. Heads of Centrally Funded Technical Institutions viz. Directors of IITs, NITs, IIITs, and IISERs were also present during the meeting.
The presentation outlined the unique contributions of the educational institutions in strengthening the startup ecosystem in the country.

Over 67% of Indian unicorn startup founders have engineering backgrounds, according to an analysis by YNOS Venture Engine, an organization incubated at IIT-Madras.
Two years ago, nearly 85% of the founders in this elite startup club, each valued at over $1 billion, were engineers.
As the number of unicorns has increased to 114 in 2023 from 100 in 2022, the diversity among founders and co-founders has also grown.

137 of the 206 co-founders and founders of unicorn firms have backgrounds in engineering. According to an analysis of the startup database of YNOS Venture Engine, graduates of business, commerce, & economics account for 9% of the unicorn founders.
