I need to make a very PUBLIC announcement on behalf of those of us who are 60-something.
If you see a 67-year-old who seems a little boring now, understand something…
WE ALREADY GOT IT IN.
Like…GOT. IT. IN. 😂
We’re not sitting home on Friday night because we never knew how to have fun.
We’re sitting home because WE’VE HAD ENOUGH FUN FOR THREE LIFETIMES.
We went to parties in farmhouses, machine sheds, gravel pits and cornfields. Nobody sent a location because THERE WERE NO CELL PHONES.
Somebody just said, “There’s a party out at Kim’s.”
Kim’s in waupaca?
Nobody knew.
But somehow 75 people found it.
We cruised Main Street for hours with absolutely nowhere to go. Gas was cheap, the music was loud, and somehow 11 people fit into a car made for five.
We drank Boone’s Farm, Old Milwaukee and mysterious concoctions somebody handed us in a plastic cup.
Nobody asked what was in it.
You drank it and trusted the process.
We closed down the bar and instead of doing the responsible thing and GOING HOME…
somebody would yell:
“RED ROOSTER!”
Or…
“LET’S GO TO THE BOONDOCKS!”
And suddenly at 2:30 in the morning, the whole crew was sitting around a table eating eggs, hash browns and greasy breakfast food like we’d just finished a hard day’s work.
Then somebody would say:
“Well…might as well stay up now.”
😂😂
There was no Uber.
No GPS.
No Life360.
No Find My Friends.
There was just somebody saying:
“Follow me. I know a shortcut.”
And for reasons nobody can explain…
WE FOLLOWED HIM.
We made entire weekend plans without sending ONE text message.
“Meet me there around 8.”
That was the plan.
And somehow everybody showed up.
We did stupid things.
We did REALLY stupid things.
And the greatest gift our generation ever received was:
THERE WERE NO CAMERA PHONES.
There are events from approximately 1975 through 1985 that exist only in the memories of the people who were there.
AND THAT’S EXACTLY WHERE THEY NEED TO STAY.
So yes…
Now we’re 60 something.
We like our recliners.
We like comfortable shoes.
We like restaurants at 5:00.
We like being home by 8:00.
And if somebody calls at 9:30 and asks:
“What are you doing?”
The answer is:
“Why the hell are you calling me this late?”
😂
We’re not boring.
WE’RE RETIRED FROM ACTIVE DUTY.
We’ve already closed the bars, stayed out until sunrise, made questionable decisions and somehow lived to tell about it.
So when younger people see us peacefully sitting at home and think:
“Man, you guys are boring.”
Sweetheart…
YOU’RE NOT LOOKING AT BORING OLD PEOPLE.
YOU’RE LOOKING AT RETIRED LEGENDS.
And thank God there isn’t much photographic evidence. 😂😂

❄️☃️SAY IT AIN'T SNOW! Stunning shot from one of Colorado's famous Ski Towns, Telluride, CO of some fresh powder earlier this morning! While this snow is welcome, the lower elevations around the Four Corners saw heavy rain & flooding from this system over the weekend.

57 years ago today, Jefferson Airplane released VOLUNTEERS, an album that captured the spirit of a generation. Recorded in San Francisco, the band’s fifth studio album featured contributions from Jerry Garcia, Nicky Hopkins, David Crosby, and Stephen Stills.
With its unapologetic political message and unmistakable rock sound, VOLUNTEERS remains a defining moment in the band’s history.

MORNING UPDATE: The forecast is verifying nicely as our storm moves over the region today. We’ve got a shitload of options on the weather bingo card, so let’s unpack this little atmospheric circus. 😂
The area inside my red oval circle shaped thingy is called the DEFORMATION ZONE. That’s where some of the storm’s heaviest precipitation is hanging out. It’ll move southeast across the mountains today, with precipitation reaching portions of the foothills, I-25 corridor and eastern plains later today, overnight and into Tuesday morning as the cold front blows through.
💨 THE WIND: It’s about to start cranking. Northwest gusts could reach 50 mph east of I-25. Generally, the farther west you go toward the foothills, the lighter the winds should be.
Here’s where terrain makes things Dennis Rodman complicated. Especially you newbies, pay attention to WHICH DIRECTION the wind is coming from. It makes a big difference in who gets precipitation and who gets jack squat.
🏔️ CENTRAL AND NORTHERN MOUNTAINS: North and northwest winds favor these areas, especially slopes facing north and west. The Highway 40 corridor will probably get nailed over the next 24 hours. Steamboat is already sitting at 6 inches at the top of the mountain.
Traveling over Rabbit Ears, Cameron Pass or Berthoud Pass today into Tuesday morning? Check ahead. The same goes for I-70 and the other mountain passes. I-80 is already snow covered in places, especially west of Laramie.
🌧️ CHEYENNE RIDGE AND WESTERN NEBRASKY PANDYHANDLE: Precipitation could pick up with areas of rain and snow. Check conditions if you’re heading north or east out of Cheyenne.
🤷 NORTHERN FRONT RANGE: Northwest winds tend to flow downhill toward places like Longmont, Loveland, Fort Collins and Greeley, extending into the northern half of the Denver metro. That downsloping helps dry the air out, limiting precipitation.
❄️ PALMER DIVIDE: Head south of Denver and that same wind starts climbing uphill. Hello, upslope. Places like Castle Rock, Larkspur and Black Forest could get some sneaky snur later tonight into Tuesday morning, extending east toward Limon.
🍩 FARTHER SOUTH: The air heads downhill again into lower portions of El Paso and Lincoln counties and eventually the Pueblo donut hole, limiting precipitation. Then it climbs AGAIN toward the Raton Mesa, bringing upslope back into play.
Areas of rain, possibly mixed with wet snow, could develop later this morning into the afternoon across favored higher terrain in southern and southeast Colorado, especially toward the Raton Mesa along and south of Highway 50.
Do you have all that so far? Uphill, downhill, wet, dry, windy, snur. I think the only thing missing from today’s bingo card is locusts. 😂
I’m watching it and will update throughout the day. If you’re traveling through the mountains or along I-80, I-70 or I-25 north of Cheyenne, CHECK AHEAD, precious chicken nuggets.
Even though the radar may be showing reflectivity over your area, due to downsloping most if not all of it may not be reaching the ground so this isn’t a magic trick. 🤣
