Everything Is Totally Fine and Joe Dunthorne's various novels are among the funniest books I've read. Here are some nice things Joe and @zacsmithtweeto said about The Kingdom, under barely any duress. For the love of god, please preorder it: linktr.ee/yoelnoreally

Stretched to breaking point: how to survive Reformer Pilates Involving a contraption inspired by postwar hospital beds, Reformer Pilates is an exercise regime designed to expose physical frailties. Could our fitness sceptic survive? ✍️ Yoel Noorali bit.ly/4zqgNAy

New thing here on taxidermy, following a very memorable weekend at a taxidermy conference 🦌🐿️🐈‍⬛
CAN STUFFED ANIMAL CORPSES CURE MY FEAR OF DEATH? When my wife told me she was pregnant, I started thinking about death. More than ever, I needed to stay alive, to pay for my half of the child. Death mattered more, now that I mattered more, which meant my long-standing fear of dying had doubled overnight. I needed, my wife said, to repress that fear. And where better to deny the reality of mortality than the UK Guild of Taxidermists Annual Conference? All forms of art are an attempt to deny death: to enable the artist to live forever in another vessel. Taxidermy distils that denial to its essence by attempting to literally preserve life at its most lifelike – as if the animal is the same dead as alive, as if nothing fearsome has happened. Always very grateful to editors but particularly to Neil O’Sullivan for his work on this, given absolutely nothing of interest happened. Astonishing persistence not to toss it out. Thank you.

However, I’d like to immediately retract my remarks regarding Sonic Youth, who I now plan to continue pretending to enjoy for many decades to come.

Thanks so much @ralph_jeffreys! Just resurfacing today from my first couple weeks of parenthood, covered in piss and shit, and means a lot that you didn't use your review as an opportunity to do the same as my new son.
Loved reading and then reviewing @Yoelnoreally's book The Kingdom for @Lit_Review! You can have a read of it here: literaryreview.co.uk/spreads…
