Judge Hellerstein was a giant of SDNY. He oversaw much of the post-9/11 litigation. In the past couple of hearings in the Maduro case, the 92-year-old judge didn't look too great. He seemed to struggle to speak. He used a cane, and an employee helped him get up the stairs to the bench.
