I genuinely don’t understand why people do this. I know shipping art can be pretty divisive, and like I’ve said before, I completely understand that people can dislike certain ships. You’re allowed to dislike whatever you want. What I don’t understand is why you would take someone else’s artwork, alter it with AI without their permission, and then bring that edited version back to the artist to show them. And this isn’t even limited to ship art. I’ve seen people do the same thing to artwork of individual characters as well. If you don’t like the way an artwork looks, then simply don’t look at it, or draw your own version. I’m not criticizing someone just for disliking a particular ship or having different preferences. That has nothing to do with it. No matter what your preferences are, taking an artist’s work without permission and changing it with AI is something the artist has every right to dislike. And deliberately bringing that altered version to the original artist and showing it to them is, quite frankly, incredibly disrespectful. I really don’t understand why I’ve been seeing so much of this on my timeline lately.
