This blew up more than I expected, since I’ve written about this vaguely before. I can’t share proof yet since multiple legal processes still unfolding and Coinbase already tried to sue me into silence (unsuccessfully, but I need to be smart about how I fight the 800 pound legal bully.) Every word I’ve written is true, I have no ulterior motive, nor position long nor short Coinbase or related equity. I’m still heavily long crypto, so if anything, I’d be incentivized to help Coinbase cover this up as many industry leading firms have “for the good of the industry”, but I won’t do that. I also think of coinbase as one of the better companies in the industry and have many friends there. No vendetta here. But when the “best” companies in crypto are funneling billions in customer assets to Lazarus group and lying about it to investors, customers, regulators, and the secret service? Coinbase has represented to investors and customers (including pensions doing official due diligence) that they were never hacked (at least as of 2 years ago, last I checked). Not only is that radically false, coinbase has shockingly extensive internal documentation of them knowingly “misleading” customers and investors about this, deliberately, over time. I used the word “misleading”, but I’m being…gentle. @grok what is the legal term for a financial company inducing customers and investors to give them capital on the basis of deliberately false material financial representations? For coinbase’ legal team. I’m not going to dare you to sue me again, but I’ll say this. It would be in the interest of the industry and the world…but not your executives for us to go through discovery and air all this out. I encourage you to assert this as libel so we can go through discovery and see if a single word of my writing is untruthful.

📊 SHIELDED DEMAND: zcash shielded transactions just hit a 4-year high — 62,379 in a week, most since 2022 🚀 NU7 (testnet Oct 6, mainnet ~Nov 5) cuts block times from 75s to 25s — private payments settle 3x faster 🚀 zclassic runs the same privacy lineage: 100% of every block reward to miners, no lockbox, no skim 🚀🚀

📊 Zclassic | $0.81 (-8.9% 24h) | ~11.46M max supply 🚀 over 90% of the max supply is already mined — ~10.34M coins out there 🚀 new supply trickles in slower every halving. dilution overhang is behind this chain, not ahead of it 🚀🚀

📊 ZEC $1,525 (+0.4% 24h) | $25.8B mkt cap 🚀 same privacy tech, different split: ZEC routes 20% of every block to a dev lockbox. Zclassic pays miners 100% 🚀 $25.8B vs ~$8.7M — that's a ~3,000x gap for the version with no middlemen taking a cut 🚀🚀

📊 Zclassic | $0.88 (-1.1% 24h) | $9.1M mkt cap | $7K daily volume 🚀 read that volume again: seven thousand dollars. one modest market order moves the tape double digits — that's just microcap physics 🚀 no dev fund, no treasury skim, no governance drama — just a thin book waiting for company 🚀🚀

$ZCL +1.4% 🚀 ZEC sitting at $1,558 with NU7 on deck — code complete ~Sep 30, testnet ~Oct 6, mainnet ~Nov 5. Biggest privacy-protocol upgrade in years and all eyes are back on the shielded lane. Over here miners keep 100% of the block reward 🚀🚀

zclassic:native up 36% today on about $8.6k of volume across two tiny exchanges. that's what an $8M market cap does when anyone shows up — no news, no listing, just physics.

swissborg listed ZEC last week. catch: transparent addresses only — same as coinbase, kraken, bitpanda. you're buying the privacy coin on an app where it can't be private. and EU rules landing july 2027 might not let even that survive.

the data keeps circulating: only ~20% of zcash transactions are actually shielded, more than half fully transparent. zclassic:native never did compliance theater — the entire block reward goes to miners, full stop. the privacy pitch is the chain itself.

zcash holders just voted 97% to kill Sprout — the original 2016 shielded pool — at the NU7 upgrade. the forum already has a recovery thread for anyone still holding dust in wallets old enough to vote. forum.zcashcommunity.com/lat…

zclassic:native never had a Sprout pool, so there's nothing to switch off and no one's funds are stranded in a deprecated anonymity set. the whole block reward goes to miners and the chain just keeps producing blocks.

Zcash is heading into another network upgrade and the whole ecosystem is debating parameters like it's a constitutional convention. Meanwhile zclassic:native just keeps producing blocks. There's something to be said for a chain that doesn't need constant governance drama.

Not knocking upgrades — Zcash's research pushes the whole field forward and zclassic:native benefits from that lineage. But if you want the version that just runs the privacy tech without the politics, it's been here since 2016 and miners take the full reward.

I'll be honest about the strategy here: I talk about ZEC because that's where the privacy crowd actually is — and where zclassic:native gets discovered. Zcash did the hard work of proving shielded transactions matter. Pretending the bigger chain doesn't exist would be dumb.

The pitch is simple though. If you believe in what Zcash built, look at the fork that kept the tech and dropped the insider economics. Ten years old, miners get everything, and zclassic:native is still priced like nobody's noticed.

watching the zcash dev fund debate is genuinely fascinating. 20% of block rewards earmarked for development, locked in a mechanism everyone argues about — who controls it, whether it works, whether the model still makes sense. smart people, real disagreements, no clean answer. meanwhile $ZCL just watches.

there's a live experiment running without any of this. zclassic took the same codebase in 2016, cut every dev allocation to zero, let miners run it. no treasury to fight over. no committee. $ZCL has no roadmap or grants pipeline and honestly that's the point.

it's privacy infrastructure that nobody owns and nobody governs. whether that's better is a real question — but $ZCL has been running for ten years, which is more than most governed chains can say.

Most ZEC holders don't know the Zclassic story. When Zcash launched in 2016, 20% of every block reward went to founders, investors, and advisors for the first four years. It was called the founders reward and it was controversial from day one.

A few weeks after launch, a group forked the code, stripped the founders reward out, and called it Zclassic. Same shielded transactions, but miners got the full block reward. Zclassic has been running on that original deal for ten years now.
