Very productive week in @YorksPrisons! In partnership with @ZMTRUST @k_tsintsadze visited #HMP_Hull for an equalities meeting and prisoner race forum. Both insightful in terms of positive practice and areas we can build on for both staff and prisoners. 1/2

I’m on my way to the sixth prison this week: met with some incredible people who live & work there, observed their routine struggles, shared with them the burden of despair and the pressure of finding hope. I’m angry at the silence & ignorance that enables the politics of denial.
Great to see our expertise on discrimination complaints being recognised by @HMIPrisonsnews in the recent inspection report @hmp_leyhill. Clear improvements and commitment to equality issues from the D&I team, who have an admirably receptive attitude to external critical friends.
It’s been a pleasure working with your visionary Governor and incredible D&I team @hmpbirmingham Thank you for embracing our Equality Advocates, utilising them for delivering your ambitions & seeing them as positive change makers for their peers & staff 🙌🏾
