Rematch night. AJ Dybantsa's home debut, four days after Charlotte beat DC 🚨
wizprimer.vercel.app/2026-10…
🔥 Dybantsa's debut: 19 points on 8-of-12 in Cleveland (AP). Tonight he gets the home crowd.
Josh Robbins' No. 1 key: Charlotte had 20 offensive boards and 26 second-chance points Monday. "That was the game right there."

Game No. 6 / NBA Cup Group Game No. 1: Hornets at Wizards, 7 p.m.
These should be the Wizards’ keys tonight:
+ 20 and 26 are too many: On Monday, the Wizards lost in Charlotte, 110-103, as the Hornets collected 20 offensive rebounds and scored 26 second-chance points. That was the game right there. All five Wizards players need to find a Hornet and box out, including on the Hornets’ 3-point tries. Hornets center Moussa Diabaté is the biggest concern — he gathered 11 offensive boards Monday — but he’s not the only worry. Naz Reid, Ryan Kalkbrenner and Brandon Miller are strong rebounders, too.
+ Key on Miller: Miller scored 39 points Monday. Miller will score his points tonight, especially with Kon Knueppel and Coby White still out, but make it tough on him and show him different looks.
+ Find the fluidity: The Wizards’ offense needs time to adjust to a different way of playing with Trae Young as the point guard and with Anthony Davis in the fold, but there have been too many times when the team’s ball movement and player movement have diminished. Don’t let the ball stick, even when the Hornets switch on defense.
+ The No. 1 pick’s home debut: After a strong performance Wednesday, AJ Dybantsa will make his home regular-season debut tonight. This is a special night. Embrace it and enjoy it.

AJ Dybantsa is AVAILABLE. The No. 1 pick makes his NBA debut tonight in Cleveland 🚨

🦶 Dybantsa missed four games with a left ankle sprain and is reportedly on a minutes restriction. Justin Champagnie had surgery on his fractured right foot; the hope is he's back by the All-Star break. Speedy recovery, Justin 🙏

Wizards wing Justin Champagnie underwent surgery today to repair a fracture in his right foot, @TheAthleticNBA has learned. The Wizards are hoping that Champagnie will be able to return by the All-Star break. Champagnie suffered the injury during Monday's game in Charlotte.
📉 The Athletic's Josh Robbins on tonight's keys: the Wizards have lost 16 straight regular-season games to Cleveland, gave up 20 offensive boards Monday, and now face Mitchell and Harden in pick-and-roll.

Game No. 5 preview: Wizards at Cleveland, 7 p.m.
These should be the Wizards’ keys tonight:
+ AJ Dybantsa will debut: The No. 1 pick in June’s draft will make his NBA regular-season debut 16 years to the day that John Wall made his NBA regular-season debut. The adrenaline will be flowing for Dybantsa (and for Wizards fans), and deservedly so, but it would be helpful to remember that this is just another step in a very long road. Dybantsa will play on a minutes restriction, a team official said.
+ Make a statement: The Wizards have lost 16 consecutive regular-season games to the Cavaliers, a streak that started on Feb. 26, 2021. What better opportunity to prove they’re not the “same old Wizards” than to end that losing streak, and to win on the road against a team that reached last spring’s Eastern Conference finals?
+ Box out: In Monday’s loss in Charlotte, the Wizards gave up 20 offensive rebounds, leading to 26 second-chance points. The Cavaliers ranked ninth last regular season in offensive-rebounding percentage. The Wizards need to account for every Cavaliers player and prevent each one from crashing.
+ Prep for countless pick-and-rolls: James Harden and Donovan Mitchell can be lethal orchestrating pick-and-rolls, so the Wizards need precision from their coverages and also need to account for Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley as lob targets.
+ Stay confident: The Wizards have made 28.6 percent of their wide-open 3s, one of the lowest figures in the league so far, according to NBA Stats. Don’t worry about it. Shots will fall. Just continue to try to generate wide-open 3s and open 3s. Pass to seek out the best possible uncontested shots.

Trae Young is back to being one of the best point guards in the NBA, if not the BEST pure point guard in basketball.
And this was just Game 1 with the Washington Wizards.
Imagine when AJ Dybantsa gets back into the lineup and this team starts clicking, learning their sets, and executing their offense consistently.
Trae Young might legitimately average 13 assists per game this season.
