Big day for @larsdegrauw with the release of "TOMORROWS" ! 🔥
Nine months pushing the boundaries of what a strong vision and AI-assisted code can achieve.

A look into the creative process behind "Drone Strike, 1994'" and "Remote Warfare in the 90s" for @Kentocards
Congrats @kentocards for reaching $200K in pledges !
As we're entering THE FINAL HOURS of the Kickstarter campaign, I wrote this article about the two digital pieces I made for the project :
Remove Warfare in the 90'
Drone Strike, 1994

A look into the creative process behind "Drone Strike, 1994'" and "Remote Warfare in the 90s" for @Kentocards
a few thoughts here.
Being an innovator in our sorry of a country seems to be the greatest evil.
Filing for bankruptcy is also a lengthy and draining process, in addition to being costly.
So a guy who just wanted to make art and singlehandedly built the ideal platform for his art to exist and thousands of other artists', ended up choking under tax and bureaucracy and having his soul crushed. And stopped creating.
Meanwhile the ever-moralizing state pockets millions without doing nothing but impede; in the name of "Social justice"
Entrepreneurs and debt are the sole source of funds for the greedy state. Yet, capital is labeled the enemy.
I'm angry.
I am sorry too, and ashamed, for all the collectors who genuinely wanted to support and empower the kindest, most hardworking and innovative artists and builders: your money didn't go to them.
@ciphrd my brother I have so much empathy, and I measure the courage it takes to write about our failures. Our system is designed to bully the successful individuals, and make sure they never elevate above the global mediocrity.
But you did. You uplifted generative art and a vibrant community gathered around your vision. You gave thousands an equal chance to exist on that scene. You also always put others before yourself, and took on your shoulders more than it is physically acceptable.
You changed our world,
and we had the time of our lives !!!
I wrote it, I'll write it again, and again, you are a hero.
Through hard times, DON'T. YOU. EVER. FORGET. THAT
Hey everyone,
I've been meaning to share some updates about fxhash with you for many weeks, but have struggled immensely to do so.
A little while ago, as we were trying to secure a loan to keep fxhash going, we received pretty bad news. As some of you were aware, fxhash was under compliance review by the French tax authorities; it was a lengthy and draining process that lasted more than 2 years. At the end of it, despite our goodwill and the lack of regulation applicable to our case, we were fined ~€500k. This would consume almost all of the loan, essentially putting a nail in the fxhash coffin.
This really took a toll on me, as things were already pretty depressing future-wise. I had been operating the company (arguably poorly) almost alone, handling admin stuff / trying to secure some money. This news essentially voided all these efforts and meant there was no future for the business anymore.
At that point I sort of dissociated from this situation, as I had reached my limits in terms of handling this business. I took some time off April/September to work on myself, my art, and try to figure out what to do next. Taking this time off didn't really come from an active decision, but rather from a need to understand what to do next. As many of you saw, I was becoming less and less present online as I had very little energy left for that. I needed to focus back on myself.
During this time, cosi announced the closure of the project. It was hard to watch silently from the sidelines, but I was eventually grateful that he had the composure to inform you folks about the state of things. I wanted to respond publicly to many of you, but I felt like I couldn't just come out of the shadows at such a time without at least offering a few explanations, which somehow felt like an impossible task to me.
I also know fxhash meant a lot to many of you. People put their art, their time, and their trust into this project, and formed friendships along the way. Its closure is a loss for many people beyond those of us who worked on it. I'm sorry my silence left you with so few answers from me during that time. I'm deeply grateful for everything you brought to fxhash over the years, and sad that we couldn't keep it going.
So here we are now. The business is insolvent. I'll declare bankruptcy in the near future and see how we can pay some of those debts back with the few assets left. As for the future of the project itself, I'm not sure. I took some steps to secure IPFS content on a low-cost dedicated instance in case this happened, as a safety mechanism. But eventually, if we want the art to survive over time, the community will have to organize itself around preservation. I've seen a few initiatives already; hopefully this keeps going for the sake of the art. I think there's a bit of work left on my end to ensure the community can properly take over hosting & distribution of the assets. I'll look into that in the following weeks.
On my end I've been working on art again and it feels great. It hadn't felt great for a long time. I would love to find energy and ideas again to contribute positively to the cryptoart space, but it's gonna take a bit of time to get there.
In the meantime, I'm very grateful to those who reached out to offer help/a shoulder to lean on. I hope we can keep these friendships going throughout life.

On that day of April 2025, I was notified I would go through a tax audit.
How ingenuous was I.
Never would I have imagined the scale of the brutality and the perversity of the French tax system.
On October 7th, I will attend the last meeting with the tax hierarchy where a shift in the decisions could potentially happen — which is highly unlikely.
After that, I will be bankrupted.
We will go to court then, but that's 3 years minimum of having to survive.
Besides stating like it's normal to take 600% tax income ( not a typo ), it's the destruction of the willpower, the humiliation, the destruction of the sense of self-worth, the theft of the entire working time that should have gone toward making the only thing that my dreams were made of : making art.
This is how my country treats the builders, the innovators, the free spirits who chose not to depend on their nanny state of a system and pour their energy and their hopes into exploring a brighter future instead.
The most interesting feat in this, is that I didn't commit any crime. They admitted that I never cheated, hid income or planned any tax evasion or even, optimization. I did not spend. I did not change my modest way of life. I never chased money. The "pretend internet money" never reached my bank account for me to spend it.
They just felt entitled to cash that out, 4 years later, at an arbitrary price set at the peak of the NFT boom, while I was working 120 hours a week and that no response had been given by the tax dpt on how to treat that stuff.
Worse : the most official source of fiscal information for artists was displaying a very official-looking way of doing it right, that was actually very wrong, and a trap.
Not gonna lie, the rare works that I've been able to produce since the tax audit started, have happened through immense efforts, fighting the fatigue, the worthlessness, the summoning of the greater good, of seeking beauty within the hostility.
I have gone through months of anxiety, disbelief, and despair. I have stopped going outside and see the world, or people. I secluded myself with only my helpless questioning for company.
As the ultimate deadline approaches, I am now noticing a new feeling growing inside of me.
Revolt.
I hate politics. Stupid circus masqueraded in moral and illusion of democracy. But if you see me drop tweets outside of my artistic practice, don't bother them, just understand that I will not sleep, or stand the look of myself in a mirror, if I don't speak up.
💚 🤜
My first work for @kentocards,"Remote warfare in the 90s" plays with the web nostalgia topic with candid-looking visuals to balance the news filled up with war feats while I was working on it.
The other work is "Drone strike, 1994", didn't see it as a card yet (is it a rare?)
First time I participate in a project where the team provides such Artists Packs to help the artists with communication. I just discovered mine ! 👀
@kentocards did an incredible job.

A banger start for the @kentocards kickstarter campaign ! Huge congrats to the whole team behind it, the quality of the work is way beyond what I imagined. Let’s go !
Today we're launching the Kickstarter for @kentocards, the project the whole team at @objktcom has been building for the past year.
Kento is a new category of collectible card. Physical cards, sold in booster packs, printed with holographic boards, hot foil and spot varnish. Each one carries a digital original by the artist, hidden behind a scratch-off panel on the back.
We built it around the artists. Every artist was paid a commission up front, and every artist receives a share of each pack sold. Backing the campaign doesn't just support the project, it directly supports all 40 artists in the set.
And what a set it is. It spans net-art pioneers like @UBERMORGEN_COM (making internet art since 1995, shown at the @newmuseum , @SFMOMA and the @CentrePompidou ) and @albertinmeunier , whose work entered the Pompidou's collection in 2024. Artists whose pieces hang in museum collections from Atlanta to Dartmouth. GIF makers like @haydiroket , whose loops have been viewed more than 15 billion times on GIPHY. Generative botanists, pixel poets, glitch artists who showed at @tate Britain, viral animators, and two artists who joined the set through our open call.
The cards give each work a frame, but the originals span everything the web can hold: illustration, photography, pixel art, generative code, 3D models, animation, and fully interactive pieces that run in the browser. Explore the whole set at kento.art.
@Kickstarter has already named the campaign a Project We Love. Extremely proud of everyone involved. The campaign is live now, and your support means a lot. 👇

I keep grinding
it's fuxxing hard at times
Looks good, "good enough" — never worth it
and I push and I don't sleep and I keep grinding
where's the outcome the body keeps asking
and then one day at the end of a restless tunnel
Beauty emerges
and you sit and you stare and you're fulfilled and you're hollow
It is rare, and the feeling is mostly yours and yours only. A treasure you can keep.
For once you transcended the dullness of existence
And then only,
a hint of a smile
you sleep.
