New task board for our research group, makes me realize how much we are all doing! A few folks have been out of town so haven’t filled their rows yet but this is a cool visual way to see progress! A sticky moved into the “finished” column == reward of m&ms from the jar!

also, we have lots of big rocks in the lab right now waiting to be slabbed and polished!

A beautiful PhD! Check out these papers focused on amazing bedrooms generated by turbidity currents!
Happy to share my PhD results on Fr-supercritical turbidity currents including: 1) Bedform formation(doi.org/10.1130/G51385.1) 2) Bedform deposits(doi.org/10.1111/sed.12772) 3) Topographic interactions (doi.org/10.1002/dep2.262) Thankful for these great datasets and collaborations!

2 postdoc positions available in Vamsi Ganti's group at UC Santa Barbara, sounds super interesting! The broad scope of the work is in understanding the controls on river mobility and decoding how this information is stored in the sedimentary record. geomorph.geog.ucsb.edu

Pseudonodules are commonly interpreted in hybrid event beds as evidence for flow shearing during deposition - (example here from the Wolfcamp). I went down the rabbit hole to find the first mention of these (a thread):

Lastly, I will say there was, and still is, a raging debate about these pseudonodules being (1) the product of primary deposition by a flow with variable rheology, or (2) just bioturbation in the mudstones above the event bed.

I hope there will be some discussion on this, as I want to know myself! Some days, I look at these and think for sure "sheared flow" and some days "must be burrows", so 🤷‍♂️cc @jenn_of_earth @Making_Ripples @MikeAClare
