Tonight, the American people sent a clear message — they want a politics that brings people together rather than divides them, and leaders who offer concrete solutions to the challenges they face.
These results were only possible because outstanding candidates stepped forward in every region of the country — including in areas once considered long shots. They came from different backgrounds and represented a range of political perspectives, but were united by shared values, a belief in public service, and a commitment to putting the people of their districts and states first.
We also owe a debt of gratitude to the thousands of election officials and volunteers from both parties who helped ensure a smooth election and carried out one of the most essential functions of our democracy.
While this administration has another two years in office, our job now is to roll up our sleeves, make changes wherever we have the power to do so, prevent further damage, and lay the groundwork for the future.

Last night, Americans made a clear call for accountability and affordability.
A body politic cannot recover until its harms have been treated and its wounds have been healed. Crimes against our people and our Constitution must be answered for. The historic abuses of the last two years must be prevented from happening again.
American families should be able to thrive, not just survive. Every child should have the chance to live up to his or her full potential. The American Dream must be more than a mirage.

STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF OUR COMRADE, MR RUZVIDZO
It is with profound shock and deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our dear friend, colleague, and comrade in arms, Mr Zvidzai Ruzvidzo, who passed away suddenly a few hours ago in Ohio, USA.
Cde Ruzvidzo was a great man and a true freedom fighter. He was one of the pioneers of the struggle in North America. As former Chairman of the North America Province, and later elected Vice Chairman at the historic 2019 MDC Alliance Congress held in Illinois USA, he was instrumental in building what became one of the strongest provinces of the opposition movement.
He wanted a free Zimbabwe. Together with Zimbabweans across North America, we built a movement under his selfless and visionary leadership.
He was an organized, principled, and the most jovial, fun human being I have ever met. He was a good man. Having retired, he had invested heavily for his retirement in Zimbabwe, still full of hope and plans for home.
This is a huge loss to all of us who knew and worked with him.
On behalf of all the Champions in North America, I extend my sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Ruzvidzo family, to his dear wife, his children, and all his loved ones.
Go well, Mudhara. Go well, Sahwira. You fought a good fight.

THE UNELECTABLE ARE HEARTLESS…This is cruel, heartless and deeply inhumane. No government should subject its own citizens to such treatment.
You allow innocent, hardworking citizens to invest their life savings, time and resources into building structures and establishing honest livelihoods. Then, at this late stage, you descend upon them with demolitions, destroying their investments, livelihoods and hopes for the future.
These are people trying to eke out an honest living, not criminals. Their dignity, rights and livelihoods must be respected and protected.
Stop this madness. Stop the violations. Stop the persecution. Responsible leaders must protect citizens, not destroy them and decimating livelihoods citizens worked so hard to build.

OPPOSITION TO THE OPPOSITION…
Leading a credible alternative and genuinely challenging an entrenched dictatorship is a demanding, costly and often perilous undertaking. It is certainly no walk in the park.
It requires tenacity, conviction, courage, sacrifice and an unwavering commitment to the cause. Perhaps this is precisely why some find it easier to position themselves as the ‘opposition to the opposition’ rather than confront the difficult realities of challenging an entrenched system of power.
It is less costly, less demanding, less stressful and certainly less risky to be the opposition to the opposition.
But genuine political leadership demands more than criticism of those seeking change. It requires the courage to challenge the status quo, the discipline to build a credible alternative and the determination to translate the aspirations of citizens into a viable pathway to government.
The ultimate responsibility is not simply to oppose the opposition, but to confront the system that makes genuine opposition. Do better. Don’t just be the opposition to the opposition. #TheNew #FreshStart #Godisinit

Millions of Americans are heading to the polls today in midterm elections that could dramatically reshape the political landscape for the remaining two years of President Donald Trump's second term.
At stake is control of the United States Congress, the legislative branch of government responsible for passing laws, approving federal spending and exercising oversight of the presidency.
All 435 seats in the House of Representatives are being contested, alongside 35 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate.
Beyond Washington, voters are also choosing governors, state legislators and local officials in elections that will shape policies affecting millions of Americans.
The central question is straightforward:
Will President Trump retain a friendly Congress, or will Americans hand Democrats the power to challenge his administration?
THE HOUSE: DEMOCRATS SEE AN OPPORTUNITY
Democrats are optimistic about their prospects of recapturing the House of Representatives.
A Democratic victory would fundamentally alter the balance of power in Washington.
House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries would become the leading candidate for Speaker of the House, potentially making history as the first Black American to hold that powerful position.
But the election is not over until the votes are counted.
Polling projections are not election results. Even a relatively small number of closely contested congressional districts could determine which party controls the chamber.
Should Democrats win, they would gain substantial influence over congressional investigations, federal spending negotiations and the administration's legislative agenda.
For President Trump, that could mean two difficult years of political confrontation.
THE SENATE: A MUCH TOUGHER BATTLE
Democrats also have ambitions of winning control of the Senate.
However, the path to a Senate majority is considerably more complicated.
Several states are attracting particular attention.
North Carolina: Former Democratic Governor Roy Cooper is a major contender in the Senate race. Polling has suggested he could be competitive, potentially giving Democrats an important opportunity to gain a Republican-held seat.
Michigan: Another important battleground where voters could influence the balance of power in the Senate.
Alaska: A traditionally Republican-leaning state where the Senate contest is attracting attention.
Ohio: A closely watched political battleground that could help determine the composition of the next Senate.
Texas: Democrats are hoping to challenge longstanding Republican dominance, although the state remains difficult territory.
South Carolina: Republicans have historically enjoyed a strong advantage, but the contest remains part of the broader national electoral picture.

It is with a heavy heart that I mourn the passing of Cde Zvidzai Ruzvidzo, a comrade whose dedication to the struggle for a democratic Zimbabwe transcended geographical boundaries.
Cde Ruzvidzo played an important role in organising Zimbabweans in North America, united by the desire for a free and democratic Zimbabwe. His service as Chairman of the North America Province and later as Vice Chairman following the 2019 MDC Alliance Congress remains part of his contribution to our collective struggle.
Beyond the positions he held, Cde Ruzvidzo will be remembered as a principled, organised and cheerful comrade who brought warmth and camaraderie to those around him. His commitment to Zimbabwe remained unwavering, with hopes of returning home to enjoy the fruits of his labour.
His passing is a painful loss to the Citizens Movement and all who shared his journey. To his wife, children, the entire Ruzvidzo family, friends and comrades, I extend my deepest condolences. May you find strength in one another and comfort in the memories of a life that touched so many.
Cde Ruzvidzo, may you rest in peace. Your journey has ended, but your service and contribution to the struggle for a better Zimbabwe will not be forgotten.
Farewell, Mudhara. Farewell, Sahwira. You ran your race with courage and conviction.
May your soul rest in eternal peace.
