My sisters new book is out on all major platforms. An emotional roller-coaster, character-driven story - like Rocky with a touch of The Time Traveler’s Wife. It’s a personal and sincere read with a lot of heart and nostalgia. @barb_avon

Guillermo del Toro says generative AI "vandalizes the fact that art without pain is illustration." "You listen to Paul McCartney and John Lennon, and you know John Lennon lost his mother... You know, van Gogh had to be institutionalized. He never really sold a painting. All these things informed the urgency of his brush strokes. If you remove any of that, then it's illustrative art and illustrative of something not lived."

A sickness known as hate. Not a virus, not a microbe, not a germ — but a sickness nonetheless, highly contagious, deadly in its effects. Don't look for it in the Twilight Zone — look for it in a mirror. Look for it before the light goes out altogether. ~Rod Serling

Rip Robbie Robertson What a terrible loss. If you haven’t already I highly recommend reading his book “Testimony.” youtube.com/watch?v=q-w9OclU…

You don't need to read book 1 to enjoy "A Crack in Forever". I always write my books to read as standalones, so if you enjoy romantic thrillers, check it out this weekend. Link in bio.

Who likes protagonists over 50? By book 4, Peter is 62, and he's still sexy as hell. I need to supplement my income while I'm sorting through everything, so if you think 50 and older is sexy, check out my "Peter Travis Love Stories". Link in bio. Standalone books, or pick up all 4.

Everyone grieves and deals with loss in their own way. It’s been thirteen years since my mom passed away. I thought, with time, the pain would erode but actually the opposite is true. If anything I miss her more and the pain I experienced when she passed away is just as strong.

She’d say don’t worry about me, “you’ve got your own problems.” I tuoi figli- she’d say in Italian - “your kids”- she’d remind me. A few years ago, someone said to me, it’s time to let go and let the dead rest in peace.

I found that comment, as well intentioned as it was, so ineffectual. It’s an impossibility for me to let go. If anything I treasure the memories of my mother more than anything. And yes, I guess, if pain accompanies some of those memories, than I embrace the pain too.
I’m generalizing, of course, but consider this: if you’re buying cheap food at a restaurant or a food truck, why is it so cheap? What’s the cost behind it? Is the business using sub-par ingredients? Are they paying their workers fairly? Providing a safe work environment?

It may not matter to a lot of people but personally I think it should.

Risk more than others think is safe. Care more than others think is wise. Dream more than others think is practical. Expect more than others think is possible.

Someone who I cherish beyond words said to me the other day: “Life is a mystery. Every time you plan something out it doesn’t quite happen as you would have wished.

The key is learning to handle the curve balls life throws at you and solving problems. If you can learn to handle and solve problems you have a chance at being content.
1
Not happy mind you. But content. And that’s all anyone can hope for in this world.”
Just coming back from a tough couple of years. So did I miss anything?
