Hi Joe here. I created the petition. This is an incorrect take and is explicitly stated in the petition.
BioWare built the universe we love, and nothing can replace their legacy. But with the studio gone, our focus is ensuring Mass Effect has a future. We’re asking EA to preserve the franchise and explore every viable path to continue it, including bringing back the talent who made it special.

Après la fermeture de BioWare, la pétition « Save Mass Effect » a dépassé les 200 000 signatures sur Change.org, avec le soutien de Mark Meer et Jennifer Hale, les voix du commandant Shepard. Elle propose à EA deux pistes : financer correctement la fin du développement du jeu annulé, ou céder la licence à un autre studio passionné. Jennifer Hale évoque aussi une possible campagne Kickstarter, mais rien ne garantit qu'EA réagisse.

I agree. I want BioWare saved. I want the same people. I don’t want EA to save Mass Effect if they plan to turn it into AI junk or undermine everything we loved about the trilogy, andromeda and the new trailer. @GambleMike and the rest of the devs are it. We need them back.
Regarding the petition - Myself and @wearemasseffect don't take credit for what the #SaveMassEffect movement has become, but we want to stress that for us it IS about BioWare. Unfortunately because of copyright the billboards can't mention BioWare but we tried. Mass Effect as a franchise was created by people who have been living and breathing BW and this game for years. This is part of their life. SaveMassEffect is about honoring them and their work. It's about wanting their work not to be vaulted by EA. It's about wanting them to find some way to preserve their jobs and finish what they started as delusional a goal as it may be. SaveMassEffect is about them as much as it is about this fictional world we love so much. We know the petition is advocating for the IP to be sold off and made by someone else and we disagree. We tried to find common ground with the person who created it to coordinate efforts better, but alas. Regardless, we still want people to sign it and will push for it as the signatures are the most important part, but those aren't our message or what this means to us.
