ZimTree

My Trees has been expanding its operational footprint in 2022. In December we will be planting 100,000 trees in Honde Valley. Here are some pictures of the nurseries there.

We are delighted to have been selected as one of the @Afr100_Official top 100 restoration projects in Africa. It is a huge honour to have our work recognised and be part of this vital initiative. @terrafund @onetreeplanted @restoreforward

We also desperately need a coherent national framework for arresting deforestation and environmental destruction. @METHI_Zimbabwe let's work together to put our country on a path to a more sustainable future - @MyTreesTrust is ready!

If Zimbabwe makes the switch to charcoal (like Zambia has), this will rapidly accelerate deforestation. We need demand side solutions NOW! Cheap clean energy at a national level is a prerequisite to saving our forests.

@Coldplay's contribution will be deployed across our conservation and tree planting portfolios - creating quality jobs for rural Zimbabweans, protecting habitat and re-opening vital wildlife corridors

We are excited to announce #MyTreesTrust is now operating in Zimbabwe's Honde Valley. Thank you to our supporters who've made this expansion possible and to the Honde Valley community for inviting us to walk this re-afforestation journey together. #righttreesintherightplace

It all starts with a single seed.

Seed by seed, tree by tree, we are working with communities in the Hurungwe district of Zimbabwe to connect intact indigenous woodlots with the remaining indigenous woodlands.

This weeks seedlings being distributed out, ready for planting!

Here's an aerial view of one of the seven My Trees nurseries. Next year, we will be introducing you to the people behind the nurseries, responsible for tending to the seedlings. 📷 @SimondeSwardt

Livestock are crucial to the agri-economy in rural communities, however this can lead to conflict with the neighbouring wildlife that borders Hurungwe. This sensitive topic is something My Trees and partners seek to manage moving forwards. #community #humanwildlifeconflict

Meet Todd, the man behind the production of the fuel-efficient clay stoves. Todd uses 2 PVC pipes to build the stoves: one to make a channel for the central intake, and another to form the hot plates for two pots. Todd customises each stove for its owner!
