Bread and circuses, without the bread.
Friendly reminder that there are plenty of other online communities available and that this one in particular is the one that makes money when you are angry, so they have a financial incentive to keep you angry. You can have a better life than this if you want.
“More importantly, Mastodon runs on an open protocol called ActivityPub—a powerful and flexible way to link up all kinds of services and systems. This means all the features of Mastodon are just a sliver of a vast universe of interoperable services.” eff.org/deeplinks/2022/11/fe…

I set up my WordPress blog to be a part of the #Fediverse. You can follow me at @[email protected] for full-text, federated blogging, baby. No more threads, baby. No more threads. Hallelujah!

“I think we’re seeing the unwinding not of a company but of a person,” @profgalloway says of Elon Musk and Twitter. “I think this is an individual who has demonstrated a total lack of grace, has no guardrails around him, and is going to see his wealth probably cut in half.”

Musk's grittiest move since he took over as Editor-In-Chief of Twitter was to make it extra work to copy memes from Twitter to share elsewhere. ("Copy Image" in Safari now copies a link to the tweet, not the image.) "Free speech absolutist" my ass.
