The OG Threewave website is back!
I've been meaning to build a website celebrating my work over the decades and bringing back to the original. Check it out and see what I've been up to lately.

This achievement in Order of the Sinking Star has entered my top ten gaming moments. It’s up there with finding Yorda on the beach in Ico, finding out who Darth Revan is, “Would you kindly?” in BioShock, first encountering the Cyberdemon in Doom and others.
I started a podcast! I cohost with @kiwitalkz a weekly gaming news Podcast called Kiwi Newz. We cover recent gaming news, releases and talk about the gaming industry and the games themselves.
We have three episodes so far, check it out!

Anyone else getting a weird issue in the WoW Forever stress test where the shadows keep dancing back and forth? It's happening everywhere for me.

When my mum died of a brain tumor in 2004, I played Metroid Prime 1 week in, week out for 9 months straight as a coping mechanism.
So 22 years later to be doing a livestream show with @ZoidCTF a senior engineer on the original Metroid Prime, a man whose work got me through one of the most difficult times in my life is pretty surreal.
Much love Zoid!!

Livestream with @ZoidCTF at 7pm PDT today.
We will be discussing the recent Bloomberg GTA 6 news, Self-Publishing and SEGA pulling its Shogun 2 Remaster.
Hopefully from next week we will start having guest game devs on the show

I played this when it came out. I was so bad at it that after a few deaths it offered me "easy mode."
Way to call me out, sheesh.
There's a point in The Witness when you go "holy shit" when _that_ moment happens.
Just had that happen in Order of the Sinking Star.
You magnificent bastard, @Jonathan_Blow

Apologies we had to postpone this stream due to my food poisoning.

My first movie I helped produce is now available to stream on Netflix in Canada.
"Cleo Nightingale is the heir to a long line of bearded women. But when she leaves her circus family to find herself, she must decide where she belongs."

RIP Levelord. Met Richard at Ritual many times over the years. Always a blast, and an incredibly innovative level designer: Spry in SiN made you a miniature player, and HIPDM1 was the first “void” map, inspiring later ones in Quake 3. He’s off to the big level in the sky now.🫡
Devastating news today. Richard “Levelord” Gray was such a great guy. Like many of our friends, I wish I could have hung out with him again. He was full of life, a gentle soul, and an excellent level designer. He was called “Levelord” for a reason. I loved the first episode of DN3D but was more drawn in by E2 and E3 that had such distinctive designs. We’re gonna miss you, man. You were one of the best.
Order of the Sinking Star (aka OotSS) is a fantastic puzzle game. Amazing design and the mixing of genres is very creative. My biggest issue is it's sheer size and volume. I'm getting puzzle fatigue after so many hours of intense play. Need to pace myself before my brain melts.

The 2nd episode of the Kiwi Newz livestream with my good friend @ZoidCTF will air tomorrow 7PM PDT.
We will cover the Microsoft layoffs, the price of the PS5 Pro and the economics of remakes.
Once we're in our groove, we will bring on other game devs.

Back in 03/04 I modded my Xbox and of course copied as many game discs as possible. I copied DoA volleyball and noticed the mod community had a patch with updated nude skins with my favorite patch note of all time, "now with assholes"
After 23 years, Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball finally runs on Windows without Xbox emulation. The unofficial native PC port brings Zack Island, beach volleyball and modern display options to PC. #RetroGaming generationamiga.com/2026/10/…
During development of Metroid Prime we actually had a PC version. It didn't render with any lighting (full bright) and was barely playable but the Visual Studio debugger was way better than the Power PC Metrowerks debugger. I debugged the majority of the gameplay code on PC since the crappy unlit graphics didn't matter when your debugging puzzles.
Kind of wacky to have a PC version again. I wonder if the port's renderer does the dynamic lighting and the TEV blend modes correctly.
This quoted post is unavailable.
Why can't I buy this and preload on Steam yet?!?
I asked Claude to analyze my PC and find my original purchase invoices and compare today's prices:
"Building this PC today would cost ~$9,400 CAD more than you paid: $17,860 now versus about $8,430 then. Graphics card and RAM account for nearly all of the increase."
Yikes!
This evening, Tuesday Oct 6th at 7PM PDT, I will be cohosting with @kiwitalkz for our first live stream podcast covering the week's gaming news, Kiwi Newz.
We will be streaming on the Kiwi Talkz YouTube channel, youtube.com/@kiwitalkz
Somehow I agreed to do this!
