Why your best hitter should not bat 3rd.
The 3 spot in the lineup comes up with 2 outs and no runners on far more than any spot in the lineup. This is the 2023 season for example
The 3-hole is a filler spot where you put your 5th best hitter
I used to think accounts like this were funny but then I grew up
The Matt Blake signing is more of the same for the Yankees. He's easily one of the more overrated coaches in the sport. Only 20-year-olds who think memes are funny think he's any good. Under Blake, the Yankees have not won a World Series, which is the only thing that matters. That alone should be reason to cut him loose. For me, they need winners to lead this team. Mike Mussina would be in pinstripes yesterday coaching this team if it were up to me.
Hey guys, for your leadoff hitter would you rather have…
1. A fast player that makes a lot of contact but never gets on base
2. A slow player that whiffs more but gets on base a ton
This should be simple
The traditionalist would have you stoned to death for this thought

A slow guy who gets on base is going to score more often than a fast guy who doesn't get on base. It's pretty straightforward.
Contact and speed shouldn’t even be top 3 on someone’s list of “leadoff hitter requirements”
Replying to @ChrisCoop_
Steven Kwan and I very much want them to pursue him again. Need a leadoff hitter with contact and speed.
“Leadoff man must be fast and must be contact oriented!!” is such a caveman way of thinking
The leadoff man needs to get on base, speed and hit tool are not direct correlation getting on base more.
Would you ever want Nasim Nunez leading off?
Damn that’s crazy bro, anyways
Im having a convo with a Knicks fan that I’ve known for a long time and you guys don’t understand how much a fan can make me hate something even more
As a Knick fan, to have the audacity to shit on a franchise that stripped it to the studs and rebuilding it the right way the past 2 going on 3 seasons is comical
Do you guys not understand it took you weirdos 53 years of constant failures before you won 1? The paper bags ya wore over your heads for years…..that’s all forgot about?
I usually don’t dedicate any posts to Knicks fans, but this conversation is irritating my soul
I can’t believe I’m watching my DEFENDING NBA Champions, the New York Knicks play basketball right now
DEFENDING, man I still get chills, I can’t believe they did it
How did you get CTE playing baseball?
BASEBALL MIGHT BE GETTING THE WORLD SERIES IT NEEDS MOST!
At a time when analytics have practically taken over the game and a potential lockout is looming, the Rays and Brewers might be reminding baseball of something we’ve forgotten.
HOW TO ACTUALLY PLAY WINNING BASEBALL!
Pitching. Defense. Speed. Contact. Smart baserunning. Timely power. EXECUTION!
Forget chasing superstars just because they’re superstars. GO FIND SUPERSTARS WHO KNOW HOW TO PLAY THE GAME!
Two organizations proving that sometimes the best way forward is BACK TO BASICS!
Maybe this World Series is bigger than a championship. Maybe it’s a reminder of what baseball has been missing.
And for once, I genuinely have NO IDEA who I’m picking!
Rays fans, Brewers fans… SELL ME ON YOUR SQUAD!
Convince me why YOUR team wins it all.
BEST ARGUMENT GETS MY PICK!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The Rays and Brewers are among baseball's most analytics-driven organizations, using data and tech to identify edges like contact, speed, and small-ball tactics rather than representing a "back to basics" rejection of analytics.

The most hilarious part of this post is that he really believes the last line
Dawg, the Pittsburgh Pirates are going to turn into the Pittsburgh Pirates (just barely at the floor)
I’m really getting tired of these fans coming after us Pirates fans saying we are “brainwashed” by Bob Nutting.
Do they not know we can’t stand him as an owner? Like this fanbase literally paid for an airplane to fly over PNC Park during the game saying “sell the team”
If anything, our fanbase is more loyal to this team wanting them to be good than any other fan base out there.
If these anti-salary cap fans want to enlighten us on how we can get our owner to “sell” or “spend more” then please by all means tell us this magical way we apparently don’t know.
Since we all know you guys don’t have an actual answer, here is the truth… a salary cap/floor is the only way our owner will spend more or sell the team to an owner that actually will.
Hope that helps the uneducated fans out there that don’t have answers but love to call us names because they know their big market teams are about to turn into the New York Jets of baseball
The Giants benching Cam Skattebo is why the “accountability is needed!!!” argument is so dumb
Benching a better player for a worse player is dumb, it’s almost always going to be fuckin dumb. The Giants got what they deserved for trying to teach Skatt a lesson, or whatever
