We moved from Texas to Oklahoma in 2022. We saw it coming.. we just didn't see it coming this fast. I'd lived in Austin 2005-2006 (it was unreal back then) and then back to Travis County (Austin) and Hays County (Dripping Springs) from 2013-2022. 2020/2021 were insanely disappointing, and it was very, very easy to see where things were heading. Abbott masked the ENTIRE massive state for 251 days, and nobody lifted a finger. Masks and hysteria were everywhere. Clotshot nutjobs all over your case. Demographics obviously changing, and fast (this was even before the recent acceleration). Anti-Christian degenerative behavior literally everywhere, especially our little YMCA. Yeah, I know we had it better than blue states those years, but IMHO, it was not even remotely free or good enough. These oh-so-tough Texans had zero fight. And then there were the overcrowding and property taxes. We thought we moved far enough away from Austin, but Austin came to us. The Texas I knew was dying. The Austin from 2005 was tragically long gone, a mere memory. We wanted to leave on a good note. We honestly had ONE goal: to give our daughter (4 years old at the time) just ten years of normalcy before she was old enough to deal with whatever rubbish was coming our way. Might as well get some space while at it. By and large, we were successful at that. Don't get me wrong, we've had some major issues in Oklahoma (example: our private school covering up their connection with and knowledge of a convicted pedo on campus), but it's generally been a breath of fresh air. When we moved out here, I realized it was the first time my wife or I had _ever_ lived in a red county (and we're not young!). The difference is massive. You meet a dude, and you can nearly just assume he's a family guy. There's so much you DON'T need to worry about. It's nice. But at the same time, this isn't the solution. They're coming for us next, and the groundwork has already begun. I expected Texas to last til 2030, but clearly I was wrong. This stuff happens FAST. As you're all seeing, there's going to be nowhere left to go. My family may have got our ten years, but the writing is on the wall. And so regardless of where you are, everyone is going to need to make some very hard decisions in the coming decade. I wish you good luck. Be where you need to be, get with your local community and church, and prepare. Things are going to accelerate.
