During an impeachment trial, the Senate essentially becomes a different body, to the point of requiring an oath.
A court of accountability that hears a case and makes a fair decision.
A check of presidential power.
Just a reminder.
According to the Constitution, "senators, when sitting on a trial of impeachment, 'shall be on Oath or Affirmation.'"
