The North-South divide health divide is widening, with no sign of stopping📈
A new study led by researchers from @_HENorth, @LivUni, @OfficialUoM, and @LivHPartners has found that the relative North-South mortality gap among 25-49 year-olds has more than tripled since 1981.

Findings included:
The North–South gap persisted across the four decades, and the widening among adults aged 25–49 began well before COVID-19 ⛓️💥
Across all people under 75, death rates were 26% higher in the North than in the South in 2024⏰

Only through sustained, coordinated action by central government and regional authorities can this challenge, both on a health and economic level, be tackled.
