My deepest sympathy goes out to this young Dallas, man, his family, and everyone who loved him. After hours on the interstate and exhausting efforts by law enforcement to talk him down, he made the ultimate decision, jumped from the bridge, and tragically lost his life today. A lot can be said about the state of our humanity by observing how people react during a tragedy. Watching the live stream was utterly heartbreaking. People were encouraging him to jump, placing bets, complaining that their lunch hour was almost over, and making cruel jokes. It seems many have forgotten that this was someone’s son, brother, best friend, neighbor, and coworker. Where are we as human beings, as citizens, as souls? Where has our conscience gone? Where is the sympathy, the empathy, and the kindness for a person in their darkest hour? Has it really come to this? It is a profound struggle to see the good around us when the true colors of so many surface in moments like these. If you are ever feeling this way, please reach out to me. I will be there. I will remind you of all the good still left in your life, that painful moments do pass, and that every small step forward is worth celebrating. I will remind you that tomorrow will not be like today, and that there are people who would never truly recover from losing you. To that young man: I am so deeply sorry you felt this was your only option. I am so sorry that others made a joke of your pain and forgot that you were a human being with inherent value. 🙏Prayers for you and your loved ones. May you finally find the peace you could not find on earth.🕊

Bob Costas was 18 when his father dropped dead at JFK airport. At the wake, a man handed him a thick envelope with $6,000 in $100 bills. It was everything his father left behind, and a bookie would never have paid it to a dead man. In the video below, he tells the story himself. His father, John, was a big-time gambler. Not casinos, not racetracks. Ball games. Bob says the mortgage was literally riding on his bets. When the games went the wrong way, he threw things, cursed and yelled. Bob’s mom and sister would leave. Bob stayed, because watching the games with his dad was the only way to be close to him. Friday, May 15, 1970. A cop knocks on the door. Before he says a word, Bob’s mother asks, “My husband’s dead, isn’t he?” John Costas had a heart attack walking through JFK. He was 42. At the wake, one of his gambling buddies walked in with the envelope. “Your father was up when he died. Give this to your mother.” A bookie never pays a dead man, so the friend went to the bookie himself and said John sent him to collect. Decades later, Bob Costas refused to read sports betting ads on air. Today the bookie lives in everyone’s phone. Is that progress?

Or, hear me out, one album was really good and one album was not good.
50 Cent reflects on dropping his album "Curtis" on the same day that Ye released "Graduation," claiming that JAŸ-Z did everything he could at Def Jam to make sure Ye won the first-week sales battle: "I lost to Def Jam... He pushed the button at Def Jam while he's the president, and it was the right move." "They did everything they could do to get that Kanye record into a good space, and it worked." (Via FLAGRANT)

A recruiting firm assessing Brian Flores as a potential coaching candidate said he was “polished and a good presenter despite growing up in Brownsville, Brooklyn (same as Mike Tyson),” according to a memo unsealed Tuesday as part of the Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator’s discrimination lawsuit against the NFL and multiple teams. nytimes.com/athletic/7687077…
