Do you recognise this man? We have released this Forensic Artist's impression of his likeness in life in an attempt to identify a man whose body was recovered on Roa Island in April 2023. More: orlo.uk/j3HSs

Many thanks to @surflifesaving for arranging the course and as always many thanks to the instructors for their ongoing support and guidance. We were also joined by one of the volunteers from @_LASAR_ who also completed a boat handling course. Video courtesy of @adeymayhew_

Swimming in open water this weekend? Always make sure you have someone with you Float to survive if you get into trouble - lie on your back & float until help arrives We recommend only swimming in designated bathing waters. Visit SWIMFO for information environment.data.gov.uk/bwq/…

It’s #EmergencyServicesDay and we’d like to highlight all of our colleagues within the police & other partner agencies that we regularly work alongside for the outstanding job they do, often attending incidents that many run away from. 🔵🔱 #bravery #emergencyservices 🚓🚑🚒🛟🙌🏼

Tonight we teamed up with the team from @_LASAR_ in our monthly training session focussing on kit familiarisation and how to lend a hand when immobilising a patient. Although as first responders we don’t carry this kit, it’s always good to know how we can assist crews on scene

Unsurprisingly a bit of a correlation with @EnvAgency live #flood alerts & warning. Detail at tinyurl.com/4j6eksva – at North West, England
Absolute soaker in northern England today. All these locations recording 25mm of rain or more. Also very widespread high totals, not confined to highest ground. Long duration steady rainfall. Very unusual, especially in July! Flood warnings starting. Still hosing down.

We are operating flood storage basins across Lancashire including #Garstang, #Catterall, #Croston and Highgate Park, to the west of the A6 in #Preston. This will take pressure away from nearby rivers and protect both people and properties from the risk of #flooding.🧵

These are current water conditions on River Lune at Lancaster observed whilst at an incident with our rescue boat. As well as not entering the water, be mindful that banking and footpaths nearby will be slippy. Take care keep dogs on a lead. #watersafety #DrowningPreventionDay

Please note this advice. Drownings increase when air temperature goes above 30C. It is a very dangerous time of year; the water is still cold enough to produce cold shock. Spread the word, lifesaving through education. #physiology
The @metoffice have issued an alert for this weekend as England is set to see its first heatwave of the year. After a number of recent drownings we want to encourage everyone to take care whilst in or near the water this weekend. Please share our advice: bit.ly/3IYSDFm

This warm weather is certainly a treat, but remember to extra care around rivers, flooded quarries, lakes, reservoirs, and at the seaside. Tip: remember to check tide times at the beach, and never venture out onto places like Morecambe Bay where the tide comes in very quickly.
