It was always UNC.
DeMarcus Henry, a 6'7" five-star small forward and one of the top players in the 2027 class, cut his list to four on Monday: Arkansas, Louisville, Kentucky, and North Carolina. He announces his decision this Friday.
WHERE THINGS STAND:
North Carolina: UNC has the momentum right now. They got his last official visit over the weekend, and multiple sources think the Heels are in a strong spot. Henry is from Charlotte, and Michael Jordan personally called him, which sources say is unusual for MJ. UNC has reportedly set aside top-of-the-market NIL money, and Jordan Brand is involved too.
Kentucky and Louisville: Both are expected to match UNC on the NIL side, and both staffs planned to visit Henry this week.
Arkansas: They might make an in-home visit this week too, but they’re the least talked-about of the four.
UNC looks like the favorite, but nothing’s locked in, and the other three are still pushing hard ahead of Friday.
Jackson Powers-Johnson was not seen at practice during the media viewing portion.
