What a privilege it was to return to Mount Temple where our journey first began, 50 years later, and share the stage with the extraordinary young musicians of Music Generation. โค๏ธ

4 minutes into this match and I've seen enough to convince me Baines needs to start against Hull

โ€œIโ€™ve seen all of the reactions, all of the meltdowns, and in all honestly it annoyed me a bit,โ€ Dewsbury-Hall says in forthright and insightful fashion. โ€œI get where people are coming from; everyone wants to sign everyone and have the perfect squad. But there are still 19 lads in this building who are going to hopefully take this club to good things this year. That was getting disregarded. โ€œI saw people saying: โ€˜Weโ€™ll be lucky to stay up this year.โ€™ What message is that sending to the lads who are already here? Iโ€™m not blaming anyone. We get it. It didnโ€™t work. But letโ€™s all be positive โ€“ right, itโ€™s done, bang, letโ€™s go โ€“ and thatโ€™s what weโ€™ve been trying to say in the dressing roomโ€ - Kiernan Dewsbury Hall @guardian ๐Ÿ”ต

"That is something SPECIAL!" Ainsley Maitland-Niles earns a draw for Everton on his debut with an unbelievable 96th minute strike! ๐Ÿคฏ

At the very least, Everton owe their frustrated fans some form of explanation for that chaotic, embarrassing and deeply disappointing transfer window. Yes, Jackโ€™s back and Maitland-Niles is in (and earlier Hackney+). But The Friedkin Group, the clubโ€™s CEO Angus Kinnear and the recruitment committee owe it to fans - the lifeblood of the club - to justify/clarify/apologise for a situation which saw Balogun not sign, a star like Ndiaye leave, Beto go, Armstrong almost sold, and failed late attempts for Kirkzee, Abraham and Tete (nb also reluctance from their clubs). Were they hoping for the Armstrong money to get players in? Or was it simply poor organisation, leaving things late? Everton look incredibly short of quality and numbers in attack and at full-back. So much to admire about Everton - manager, fanbase, stadium, academy, players like Pickford, Branthwaite, Garner, Dewsbury-Hall, Armstrong etc. But that was a poorly-handled transfer window and Everton fans have every right to be frustrated. #EFC
