Few things make New York feel more like New York than the sounds, traditions and joy of our Caribbean community.
I got to share in that joy at Soca Fest, surrounded by Caribbean New Yorkers and united by one rhythm as @Kestheband brought Brooklyn to life with the sweet sounds of soca.
It's official: the fête has begun. See you on the road!

🇮🇩💔 CNN Indonesia journalist Irene Whardanie broke down live on air from Aceh Tamiang, Indonesia.
After more than three weeks since the disaster, she reported that nothing has meaningfully changed. Children are going hungry, standing by the roadside waiting for food that isn’t coming.
She couldn’t hold back tears seeing the conditions or the slow response.
Residents asked journalists to tell the truth about what’s happening, not to soften it or cover it up.

Miami Freedom Tower is set to reopen this September after a two-year restoration project.
It will celebrate its centennial with a host of new permanent exhibits like “Libertad” which talks about the tower’s role as a processing center for 400,000 Cuban refugees from 1962-74
The tower will also have audio guides, artifacts, interactive newspaper reels and even an exhibit in partnership with the FIFA Museum
This was the tallest building in Florida when it was built in 1925
