Taunton Town is delighted to announce that Phil Mendonca has agreed terms for the 2026-27 season.
Mendonca’s first introduction to The Peacocks came in 2023, when he agreed terms after impressing during an extended trial period. However, his career was blighted by a series of traumatic injuries. Following that difficult period, the explosive winger regained his fitness at Western League level with Buckland Athletic and Sidmouth Town AFC, and returned to Wordsworth Drive looking to make an impact for his hometown club.
The talented former Exeter City youngster has featured in all of Taunton’s summer fixtures and will join Gary Johnson’s side as they travel to Hanworth Villa on the opening day of the season on Saturday, 8th August.
Speaking to the club, Johnson commented: “I’m pleased that Phil has agreed to sign for us ahead of the new campaign. He’s had a really positive pre-season, considering where he came from after a series of horrendous injuries. His recovery to where he is now is nothing short of miraculous. He’s been very loyal to the Taunton Town football family.
“Being a local lad, I’m sure our supporters will be happy that he’s now officially one of us. In fact, I can hear the song now: ‘Phil Mendonca, he’s one of our own’.”
