The voters the NPP lost in 2024 weren’t necessarily party faithful. Many were independent-minded voters who assess the issues for themselves. The earlier the party understands this and appeals to that base, the better.

But how does labour enter into a multi-year increase agreement?
The last time they agreed in 2020 for 4% and 7% for 2021 and 2022 respectively, we ended up with the 2022 COLA strike.

There’s a lot for this administration to work on, but make no mistake: disclosure and transparency have improved remarkably compared to what we had previously.
Heck, we’re able to discuss and scrutinise much better today because information is being disclosed. I celebrate that part of the reset, and I call for even more.
Think about it. We ran gold-related programmes for years without proper disclosures. We were able to discuss the losses associated with the gold programme last year and this year because some information was made available. We’re now scrutinising expenditure on an evacuation exercise because records have been disclosed.
That’s the point of transparency. It allows the public to ask questions, examine the evidence and hold those in power accountable!
