I'm rather proud of how my SpriteKit particle editor is coming. The automatic conversion between CGFloat and Double makes life a lot easier for proxying values to SwiftUI. I even had an opportunity to use one of @KenneyNL's smoke textures.😀Lots of cleanup left, but feeling good.

I've some bad personal news. The first post in my "Code is Just" thread, the best piece of work I've ever done, has somehow got deleted. All bookmarks to it and all stats associated with it are gone. All the quote tweets from thousands of people will now reference a deleted tweet. I'm absolutely devastated. It remains a work I'm immensely proud of. I cannot even begin to process the loss, which sounds absurdly selfish given all the grief in the world today, but there you go. It's a different kind of grief. If @x can retrieve the post with its stats I'd be eternally grateful. I don't know how this could have happened. There is an image of the original post in this tweet, and also a link to the second tweet in the original thread, which remains intact. Please share this if you can, so that people who loved the original can update their bookmarks. teapawt.net/shahidkamal/stat…

I then wrote Raining Cats and Dogs, also on the Atari 400 in 1982. This, while also being in BASIC, was more advanced. You had cats and dogs, and 4-step animation for your player who had to make it across. I pitched it to a few publishers. No interest.

I’ve given up on Musk. I was patient. I’ve also temporarily muted a ton of accounts. I don’t know how long I can bear to stick around here. It really is through gritted teeth. So many people typing so much entitled, uninformed and outraged bullshit here that it’s hard to think.

What a morning! 😮‍💨 Incredibly proud to be part of this team. I’m obviously deep in the koolaid drinking here, but I really think we’ve built a paywall system that’s incredible compelling. Silly simple to add, yet scales up to highly customizable if you’re fussy (like me 😅)
Big news! 🐾🧱 Today, we’re launching the beta for RevenueCat Paywalls. Our brand new, natively rendering, remotely configurable paywall UI framework is now available on iOS for all current RevenueCat plans.

You didn't stop playing video games because you got older. You got older because you stopped playing video games. Never stop playing.

What can I do with a PC as a games developer that I can't do with a Mac? (Serious question, written on a PC)

I’ve been in a pretty dark place for a few days. Don’t get me wrong, I still get my work done at these times, sometimes brilliant work. I’m not the kind that takes to bed with a bag of Doritos and salsa, though the thought is tempting. Wanna know what my solace is at these times? Video games. And for the last couple of weeks it’s been Call of Duty. I finished Modern Warfare remaster, Black Ops Cold War and the Modern Warfare reboot. Loved all of them. Now I’m playing the reboot of MW II and it’s phenomenal. Why though? Why is this game a source of solace? Because it’s fair. It’s on rails. I don’t have to think. It rewards accuracy, and I can get better at that. It rewards speed and I can get better at that. It shows that progress is inevitable if you don’t stop playing. It reminds me that I can better, at 57, with a body and brain ravaged by a lifetime of T1D, at just about anything I put my mind to. Not everything. It’s too late for everything. But it shows me I can get better at one thing at a time and that’s enough. It’s enough to give me the one thing I can’t find within me. Hope. Video games are really good for you. Never stop playing.

- Engagement through the floor - Loads of people I like have left - Dumb takes get promoted because of Blue bias - Lost *thousands* of followers - Many of those who follow me have found that I’m muted even when they’re not running Blue-mute filters, they hadn’t muted me - Sub tweeting and snide remarks up - Blocking next on the list of changes - Advertising doesn’t reward creatives, it rewards those who create content that Musk criticises across legacy media for the same flaws - Feeling like some of the younger people I respect are losing respect for my generation and judging us and I hate being in that judged bracket after all the sacrifices I made I was giving this place a chance, but I’m tired, really, really tired.

The presence of ketones is normal under a variety of situations, including fasting, low carb diets, ketogenic diets and so on. Ketosis is usually ketones up to about 5 mmol/l. Ketoacidosis is different, often >8 mmol/l and deadly. The brain can use ketones as well as glucose.

Season 4 Episode 2 will be 6 months late, but this season is going to be a cracker. Bookmark the tweet below if you’re interested in Code is Just, or are a developer and are interested in what I did after PlayStation. It will get hairy.

If you ever wonder how Swift is trying to make "the obvious thing the right thing," think about this string concat example from Kotlin. w/ strings `a` and `b`, `a+b` creates a third object whereas the interpolation of `"$a $b"` uses a StringBuilder & doesn't.

Is it just me or are iPadOS widgets (almost) freely movable? This is awesome if it’s a planned feature.

Seriously, what do I think? Stunning. Everything I hoped for and more. Once again, a deeply considered and integrated approach from Apple. Rarely the first, often the best. It represents everything about the magic of technology that I've loved since 1982. I want one.
